Tom Hiddleston is back as a spy in the second season of The Night Manager, and it’s quickly become a hit! According to data from FlixPatrol, the new season launched on Prime Video on Monday and immediately climbed to become the second most popular show on Amazon’s streaming service.
. The show is charting in several international markets on the Prime Video streaming service.
The latest season of the show brings back Tom Hiddleston as Jonathan Pine, a former soldier now on a dangerous assignment in Colombia. He’s tasked with investigating an arms dealer named Teddy Dos Santos (Diego Calva) and his alluring partner, Roxana Bolanos (Camila Morrone). As Pine gets closer to Teddy’s operation, he discovers hidden layers of secrets and corruption, and must race against time to stop a potentially devastating plot.
The reviewer believes the new season was well worth the wait, describing it as a thoughtful exploration of a man struggling with his identity. He prefers to operate on the fringes of society and avoids personal connections, and this season showcases one of Tom Hiddleston’s most complex performances yet. The review suggests The Night Manager Season 2 is a strong contender for awards.
The Night Manager Finally Returns for Season 2
The television series The Night Manager is adapted from John le Carré’s novel of the same title. Tom Hiddleston plays the lead role of Jonathan Pine. The first season follows Pine as he works undercover, navigating the complex world of intelligence agencies and the illegal arms trade in both Britain and the United States, all in an effort to get close to the dangerous arms dealer Richard Onslow Roper, played by Hugh Laurie.
The first season of The Night Manager received widespread critical acclaim, particularly for Tom Hiddleston’s performance. On Rotten Tomatoes, it earned a “Certified Fresh” score of 91%, with critics highlighting the show’s clever writing, exciting plot, and the compelling performances of Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston.
I’ve been so eager to find out how they’ll connect the two seasons of The Night Manager, and Tom Hiddleston has given a little hint! He explained that Hugh Laurie’s character, Richard Roper, really embodies cynicism and how easily people become involved in wrongdoing. Roper is the one who truly fuels John le Carré’s Pine’s sense of right and wrong, and it’s something Angela Burr understands and feels just as strongly. They both fundamentally believe that people like Roper shouldn’t get away with anything.
He explained that at the start of Season 2, the character’s anger has been hidden and pushed down, along with his true identity, history, and painful experiences. He described this as a dangerous situation, like a bomb waiting to explode.
The series The Night Manager was also recognized by various award shows, receiving 36 nominations and winning 11 awards. Among the winners were director Susanne de Bier, who took home an Emmy, and composer Victor Reyes, who won for the show’s music.
I’m so excited to see some familiar faces returning for the new season, like Tom Hiddleston, Alistair Petrie, Douglas Hodge, David Harewood, and Michael Nardone, who were all great in Season 1! And we’re also getting some fantastic new additions to the cast – Camila Morrone, Diego Calva, Indira Varma, Paul Chahidi, Hayley Squires, Unax Ugalde, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste. I can’t wait to see what they bring to the show!
The Night Manager Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream now on Prime Video. .
