Tom Holland Reveals Why He’ll Never Host Saturday Night Live

Tom Holland‘s spidey senses are telling him to steer clear of Studio 8H.

Tom Holland, known for playing Spider-Man, has said he’s almost certainly not interested in hosting Saturday Night Live, and he has a good reason why he’s declining the offer, even though it’s a rare opportunity.

Tom shared on Amy Poehler’s podcast, Good Hang, that his severe dyslexia—a learning difficulty that impacts reading and spelling—is why he’s never appeared on Saturday Night Live. He explained this on the June 2nd episode.

Amy, clearly surprised, asked if it was because of the cue cards. Tom confirmed, explaining he was terrified of trying to read something only to have it changed.

I can read perfectly well to myself,” the 30-year-old explained, “but reading aloud is difficult. It’s like my mind just shuts down, and I get stuck.

Apparently, Tom is hesitant about hosting NBC’s long-running live comedy show, which is coming back for its 52nd season later this year. He’s already said no to an offer from producer Lorne Michaels several times because the idea is so intimidating.

Zendaya’s partner explained he’s been asked to participate a few times and, honestly, he’s just nervous. He loves the show and enjoys the idea of being silly and creative, but he’s really worried about reading cue cards.

Given his work on major films, how does Tom cope with dyslexia, especially while contributing to Christopher Nolan’s next big movie, The Odyssey?

He confessed that the worst part of his job is the first read-through of the script. He always makes a big effort to mark up his lines and memorize them beforehand, so he can quickly scan the script instead of reading it word-for-word.

Still, Amy had full confidence in Tom’s hosting abilities and encouraged him to face his fears.

The former Mean Girls star pointed out that past hosts have performed under the influence of drugs, but believes it’s still possible to succeed in the role.

Many fans would love to see Tom host Saturday Night Live, maybe even alongside Zendaya. But first, let’s take a look back at how this charming couple fell in love.

Tom Holland and Zendaya shared a lighthearted moment and laughed together while at the Marvel panel during San Diego Comic-Con in 2016, before the premiere of Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The Spider-Man: Homecoming stars spoke onstage at the award show in Los Angeles.

Tom and Zendaya attended a photo call for Spider-Man: Homecoming in Madrid.

The pair were seen at the celebration following the Hollywood premiere of Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Months after their romance was confirmed, Tom gushed over his onscreen and offscreen girlfriend.

In a sweet birthday message posted on September 1st, Tom Holland affectionately called Zendaya ‘MJ’ – a nod to her character’s name – and playfully asked her to call him when she was free.

The two attended a photo call for Spider-Man: No Way Home at The Old Sessions House in London.

Tom Holland and Zendaya chatted during a SiriusXM Radio event with the cast of Spider-Man: No Way Home in New York City.

The actress wore a specially made Valentino dress, and Tom looked sharp in a Prada suit, as they both posed for photos at the Los Angeles premiere of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

After their third Spider-Man film hit theaters, Zendaya heaped praise over her leading man.

Oh my gosh, seeing him just fills me with pride! It’s so reassuring knowing some things stay the same, and honestly, thank goodness for Tom Holland! He’s just… everything!

The couple celebrated Valentine’s Day a little late with a stylish night out in New York City on February 16th.

Zendaya shared this sweet shot of her boyfriend enjoying the water in honor of his birthday.

Tom celebrated his 27th birthday by sharing a striking photo on Instagram, playfully calling it “possibly the sexiest picture ever taken of me!” Zendaya responded with a heart-eye emoji, showing her approval.

Zendaya seemed inspired by her character from the upcoming movie Challengers when she attended the BNP Paribas Open Men’s Final in Indian Wells, California with Tom Holland and her assistant, Darnell Appling.

The two enjoyed a night out in London.

After Tom’s play, Romeo and Juliet, opened in London, Zendaya was there to support him. They were photographed holding hands as they left the theater.

When Tom launched his new non-alcoholic beer brand, Bero, Zendaya supported him while wearing a matching burgundy outfit.

While visiting Zendaya on the set of her movie, The Drama, in Newbury, Massachusetts, the pair grabbed a beer at Bero.

Tom announced on Instagram that he was trying a ‘Bero’ – a popular drink – for the first time at a bar. He shared a photo of his girlfriend smiling and promised to share how it went.
