Tom Holland Shares He Was Diagnosed With ADHD and Dyslexia

Tom Holland’s spidey senses aren’t always tingling perfectly. 

To put it simply, the actor who plays Spider-Man has openly discussed how his conditions, namely dyslexia and ADHD, can occasionally pose challenges in his work, and how he manages to triumph over these difficulties.

Tom mentioned in an interview on September 1st that he has ADHD and dyslexia, and sometimes a blank canvas feels a bit overwhelming for him. He also shared that when creating a character, he often encounters similar challenges.

Instead, the actor from Cherry admits that he prepares for roles by tapping into his inner child’s sense of play.

He emphasized that regardless of age, finding opportunities to stimulate creativity, think beyond conventional ideas, and encourage change is essential. He believes that frequently engaging in such activities can lead to significant improvements.

For the first time, Tom (who got engaged to Zendaya earlier this year) has spoken publicly about his challenges with ADHD. Previously, he had discussed how he copes with dyslexia, a condition that was diagnosed in him at age 7.

The disorder affecting his learning has particularly impacted his spelling abilities, as opposed to reading, which was a challenge he mentioned earlier in his life.

During a July 2023 interview on Jay Shetty’s ‘On Purpose’ podcast, he clarified that his struggle with dyslexia mainly manifested in spelling issues. He expressed gratitude towards his parents, Dominic Holland and Nikki Holland, for their unwavering support. ‘My biggest challenge was my spelling,’ he said. ‘I wasn’t an outstanding student, but my parents always encouraged me to do my best.’

Tom, who has successfully navigated through his health issues and even flourished amidst them, generously offered some words of guidance to fans facing comparable challenges.

In Tom’s case, having Zendaya by his side certainly adds to his advantage, especially since they are set to work together in the upcoming movies “Odyssey” and “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” which are due for release in 2026.

During a town hall meeting hosted by SiriusXM Radio in New York City, Tom and Zendaya conversed with the cast of “Spider-Man: No Way Home.

At the Los Angeles debut of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the actress donned a unique Valentino dress while Tom wore a smart Prada suit, both striking poses as photographers captured their moments.

After their third Spider-Man film hit theaters, Zendaya heaped praise over her leading man.

She beamed with pride at her Spider-Man, remarking, ‘I’m still so proud of you,’ and added with a smile, ‘It’s great that some things remain constant, especially with Tom Holland.’

As a devoted admirer, I took great care to dress elegantly for the occasion, and my partner did too, as we celebrated our slightly delayed Valentine’s Day evening out in the bustling city of New York on February 16th.

Zendaya shared this sweet shot of her boyfriend enjoying the water in honor of his birthday.

For his 27th birthday, Tom revealed this stunning piece, playfully commenting on Instagram, “Here’s a gift from me to you. I believe I’ve shared the most alluring photograph ever captured of myself!” Zendaya clearly appreciated it, responding with an eye-heart emoji.

Before the premiere of her film “Challengers,” Zendaya drew inspiration from Tashi Duncan within herself, as she enjoyed a tennis session with Tom and her trusted aid Darnell Appling during the Men’s Final of the BNP Paribas Open held in Indian Wells, California.

The two enjoyed a night out in London.

After the premiere of Tom’s play “Romeo and Juliet” in London, it was noticed that Zendaya stood by him, with both of them being spotted holding hands after the performance.

When Tom launched his new business for non-alcoholic beer, called Bero, Zendaya stood alongside him in a harmonious burgundy outfit.

During a visit to Newbury, Massachusetts, where Zendaya was filming her movie titled “The Drama“, the pair took a quick break for a drink at Bero.

Tom posted on Instagram that he’s going out to try his first Bero at a bar, with a photo of his partner grinning behind him. He promised to update everyone on the experience.
