Don’t mistake it for the 2007 game, Tomb Raider: Anniversary – this year actually celebrates the 30th anniversary of the entire Tomb Raider series!
It’s been thirty years since Lara Croft first appeared in video games, and this year is already looking like a huge one for her and her followers.
Let’s explore the plans for celebrating 30 years of Tomb Raider! Here’s a rundown of everything happening.
Tomb Raider 30th anniversary: When is it and what to expect
The 30th anniversary of Tomb Raider will take place on 24th October 2026.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the original Tomb Raider game. It first launched on the Sega Saturn in Europe, followed by versions for PlayStation and MS-DOS in North America on November 14th.
This year’s event is expected to feature Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a complete remake of the original Tomb Raider game, though a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet.
Although we don’t know exactly when it will be released, it would make sense for it to come out around the game’s 30th anniversary. That would give players some time to enjoy it before everyone starts focusing on the next Grand Theft Auto game.

And looking ahead, we also plan to release Tomb Raider: Catalyst in 2027, though it won’t be available this year.
I’m still really excited about the Tomb Raider TV show with Sophie Turner as Lara Croft, even though we don’t know when it’s coming out yet! We’ve talked before about how this show could change things for the whole franchise, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed it lives up to the hype.
We don’t expect the show to come out this year, but we wouldn’t be shocked if a trailer appeared around its anniversary.
Finally, UK fans of Tomb Raider will have the opportunity to attend TR30, an unofficial fan event celebrating the series.
TR30, a celebration taking place in Derby – the city where the Tomb Raider game originated – will feature appearances by several people who brought Lara Croft to life. This includes models Natalie Cook (who posed for the character from 1996-1997) and Alison Carroll (2008-2010), as well as the actresses who voiced Lara, Judith Gibbins and Jonell Elliot.
