The upcoming release of a *Tomb Raider* game has been pushed back a month, from October 18th to November 18th. This delay only affects PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players, as the game is a remastered version of a classic PlayStation 2 title. Players on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox consoles will not be affected.
It’s been a tough decade for fans of the *Tomb Raider* series. The last major game, *Shadow of the Tomb Raider*, came out in 2018, and while a new installment is in the works, reports suggest development is facing challenges. This means fans may have to wait a while longer for the next game. Luckily, there are plenty of older *Tomb Raider* titles to enjoy. Speaking of which, the planned October 18th release of *Tomb Raider Anniversary* on PlayStation 4 and 5 has been pushed back to November 18th.
A Very Strange Delay
The strange thing about this late delay is that Crystal Dynamics hasn’t said anything about it. We only found out because the game’s release date was changed on the PlayStation Store. While it *could* be a mistake, that doesn’t seem likely.
About the Game
If you’re not familiar with it, *Tomb Raider Anniversary* is a rebuilt version of the original *Tomb Raider* game from 1996. Released in 2007 for PC and PlayStation 2 by Crystal Dynamics, Buzz Monkey Software, and Eidos Interactive, it surprisingly became the lowest-selling game in the *Tomb Raider* series at the time—even though it still sold over a million copies. This was particularly strange, given its respectable 81 score on Metacritic. Until now, players haven’t been able to play the 2007 version on PlayStation 4 or 5, but that’s changing next month, barring any further delays.
