Tomb Raider Returns With Surprise New Release Ahead Of Legacy Of Atlantis

The Tomb Raider series is making a big return, starting with a mobile game before the release of the highly anticipated Legacy of Atlantis next year. The recent announcements of both Legacy of Atlantis and the 2027 title, Tomb Raider: Catalyst, signaled a renewed focus on the franchise, and this mobile port will be the first offering to players.

Feral Interactive just released a trailer on YouTube showcasing the upcoming mobile version of the 2013 Tomb Raider game for both iOS and Android devices. The trailer demonstrates how the game will run on phones and tablets, featuring a new user interface designed for touchscreens. The mobile port of Tomb Raider is scheduled to launch on February 12, 2026.

Tomb Raider Is Officially Headed To Mobile

Lara Croft On The Go Again

When Tomb Raider first launched on consoles, it was known for its stunning graphics. Even after 12 years, it’s exciting to see it coming to mobile devices. While the mobile version has some reduced graphical details compared to the PC game, it still looks great overall.

Lara Croft has appeared on mobile devices before, but this is the first time a traditional Tomb Raider game has been released for Android and iOS. Previous mobile titles like Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light used a different overhead camera angle, and Lara Croft GO was primarily a puzzle game, similar to Hitman GO.

Lara Croft’s Future Is Looking Bright

So Much In The Works

Feral Interactive has a strong track record of bringing games to mobile devices, including successful ports of titles like Guardian of Light, Alien: Isolation, and several Total War games. While Tomb Raider might be a more demanding project, it appears to be in good hands with their team.

While not as large in scope as previous games like Legacy of Atlantis or Catalyst, this clearly signals Lara Croft’s return to more frequent action adventures. The Tomb Raider series had been quieter since 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider, with remasters of the original six games released in 2024 and 2025. Behind the scenes, there’s been some significant change, as publisher Square Enix sold the rights to Tomb Raider along with the development studio.

The recently released Legacy of Atlantis is a reimagining of the 1996 game, meaning fans will need to wait for Catalyst for a completely new installment. Still, it’s great to see the Tomb Raider series making a comeback. With no word on future Uncharted games or a potential sequel to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Tomb Raider is currently the leading title in the adventure game genre.
