The Midwest Games and Moth Atlas reveal the array of tools available for players in the imminent 2D Eldritch horror souls-like action RPG.
In a recent update, developers Max Mraz of Moth Atlas and publisher Midwest Games have disclosed fresh insights about the weapons, spells, and enchantments that players will encounter in Tombwater. This captivating 2D souls-like action RPG seamlessly merges Wild West ruggedness with Lovecraftian horror. Excited fans can now add this game to their wishlist on Steam.
In the spooky town of Tombwater, gamers engage in intense battles against eldritch creatures and townsfolk affected by a chilling influence. To triumph, they must explore extensively, conquer formidable bosses, and become proficient in various combat strategies.
Weapons and Firearms
Tombwater provides more than 50 types of melee and ranged weapons for players to try out. You can test your skills with a blood-draining rapier, an agile whip that strikes with lethal precision, or even a streetlamp uprooted from the ground that ignites upon use. For firearms, there’s the venomous Rattler pistol, the fiery Infernal Shotgun, and the experimental Edison Cannon. Each weapon comes with a distinctive “weapon art,” creating fresh tactical opportunities in every battle.
Spells and Madness
In simpler terms, the game allows you to unveil approximately forty diverse spells. These encompass summoning ghostly oxen and clouds of moths, as well as tying up foes with a shared damage effect. The spells are potent, but they usually induce madness, so players must consider the balance between taking risks and reaping rewards.
Charms and Enhancements
Items grant additional effects when they are used at campsites. For instance, there’s a protective amulet that deflects bullets, a lucky trinket that boosts both the damage you inflict and the damage you take, and an eye mask designed to ward off madness caused by spellcasting.
About Tombwater
In the game called Tombwater, players assume the role of a solitary gunslinger on a quest to find a missing friend. This intriguing title was crafted by Moth Atlas, a studio led by Max Mraz and Jake Wagner. Max Mraz, renowned for Ocean’s Heart and Yarntown, is particularly recognized for his work on the latter – a cherished “demake” of Bloodborne that served as the blueprint for Tombwater’s development.
The game offers a vast playfield, challenging top-tier enemies, and numerous skills to perfect. A trial version can be downloaded for free on Steam right now, and a specific Discord server has been set up for regular updates from the community. Tombwater is scheduled for launch in 2025 exclusively on Windows PC through Steam.
