Tommy Lee Jones is grieving a family tragedy.
The Academy Award-winning actor and his family shared a statement after the passing of his daughter, Victoria Jones, who was 34 years old.
In a statement to TopMob News on January 2nd, the family expressed their gratitude for the support and kind wishes they’ve received. They also asked for privacy as they cope with this challenging situation.
Victoria, an actress who first appeared in Men in Black II when she was 11 years old, was found dead in a San Francisco hotel room on January 1st, according to law enforcement sources who spoke with TMZ.
On New Year’s Day, at 2:52 a.m., San Francisco firefighters responded to a medical call. Sadly, paramedics found the person at the scene had already died, and their identity hasn’t been released.
Victoria’s official cause of death has not been shared.
Following her appearance in a 2002 film with her father and Will Smith, Victoria continued to act in her father’s movies, including the 2005 neo-Western The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada and 2014’s The Homesman. She also had a small part in the TV show One Tree Hill. Victoria is one of the children Tommy Lee shared with ex-wife Kimberlea Cloughley; she also has a brother, Austin Jones, who is 43.
Tommy Lee, age 79, was proud of the effort she put into her work as a child, especially her ability with languages.
In a 2006 interview with The New Yorker, the actor from Lincoln shared that she is a talented actress with professional credentials and fluent in Spanish. He explained that when she was an infant, he asked her nanny, Leticia, to communicate with her in Spanish.

He was deeply connected to Victoria, and their relationship actually inspired his Western film, The Homesman. He wrote, directed, and acted in the movie, which examines the issue of sexism in the 1800s.
Tommy Lee, who married Dawn Laurel-Jones in 2001, shared with Meryl Streep in a 2014 Interview magazine conversation that the women in his life – his grandmother, mother, wife, and daughter – and many of his close friends, including Streep, have always been important to him. He explained he’s simply curious about their experiences and the challenges they face, believing that understanding the past is key to addressing present-day issues.
He explained that the history of sexism in this country is connected to the westward expansion of European settlers and differing interpretations of Manifest Destiny. He finds the challenges faced during this period, and the reasons behind them, particularly compelling.
