Toonami, the Cartoon Network programming block, has had its share of successes and challenges. It brought popular anime like Dragon Ball Z and Mobile Suit Gundam to many viewers, but it was once canceled. Thankfully, Adult Swim revived the block, and it’s still broadcasting anime today. Later this year, one of the most unusual anime series ever shown on Toonami, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, will be making a return with new content planned for 2026.
The upcoming ‘Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo Exhibition: DIVE INTO THE BO-BOBO WORLD’ will be held in Japan this September and October. It will first appear in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, and then return in Osaka beginning January 8th, 2027, running until January 24th. Similar to other anime events, this exhibition is currently exclusive to Japan, but it demonstrates the continued popularity of the uniquely strange ‘Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo’ anime. A first look at the exhibit’s poster is available below.

Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo’s Comeback

The anime exhibition is presented as a unique experience called the “Hajikerist Training Program,” aiming to free people from overthinking and the pressure to always be right. It encourages visitors to embrace spontaneity and let go, believing this energy will be vital for facing modern challenges. The exhibition immerses you in the world of ‘Hajikerists’ – showcasing their stories and offering a chance to unleash your own energy. The goal is to create an exhilarating experience that will test your limits and awaken your inner wildness.
Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo began as a funny manga series in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2001 and was later turned into an anime by Toei Animation in 2003. Although the anime hasn’t returned, a sequel manga, Shinsetsu Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, was created by Yoshio Sawai in 2005, shortly after the anime finished. Many fans had given up hope of seeing the wacky show return after so many years, but a new exhibit and a stage play planned for this summer suggest the afro-wearing hero might make a comeback. It’s clear this Toonami favorite still has a following after all this time.
