Marvel Comics heroes are constantly replaced by new generations, but inheriting a legacy is much harder when your parents are supervillains. Unlike heroes, villains often make terrible parents, leading to children who are either abandoned or raised to follow in their evil footsteps. These children typically end up one of two ways: they either reject their upbringing and become heroes, or they embrace their dark side and become villains themselves, sometimes even surpassing their parents in wickedness.
The children of Marvel’s most dangerous villains have become either incredible heroes or formidable supervillains themselves.
10) Quake
Daisy Johnson, also known as Quake, is the daughter of the supervillain Mr. Hyde, though they aren’t officially recognized as father and daughter. Unlike her father, Daisy didn’t develop a frightening appearance or violent tendencies. Instead, she received Inhuman DNA from her mother, which gave her the power to create strong vibrations and control earthquakes.
Nick Fury discovered a young girl and took her under his care, training her as his protégé. Daisy excelled under Fury’s guidance, quickly becoming one of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s most skilled agents. She eventually led both the Secret Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D., but she was removed from her position leading S.H.I.E.L.D. after letting her powers and ego lead to poor choices and an international crisis. Despite a troubled past, Daisy remains a brave and selfless hero.
9) Sin
Sinthia Schmidt, known as Sin, was raised to be just as cruel and full of hatred as her father, the Red Skull. Initially disappointed that she was a girl instead of a boy, the Red Skull almost killed Sinthia as a baby. However, one of his followers, Mother Night, persuaded him to train her to become a deadly weapon instead.
I’ve always been fascinated by Sin, even though she’s terrifying. She wasn’t just born a villain; she was *made* into one. From a young age, she was ruthlessly trained as an assassin, mastering all kinds of combat and weaponry. The Red Skull even accelerated her aging with a machine so he could use her in his evil schemes! As a key figure in Hydra, she’s become a major enemy of Captain America, and they’ve clashed countless times. It’s chilling to think she was responsible for Bucky’s death, and she actually teamed up with Crossbones to try and eliminate Captain America after everything that happened during *Civil War*. She’s a truly formidable opponent.
8) Hela
Hela is the Norse goddess of death, and the daughter of Loki and a Frost Giant. Odin made her queen of Hel and Niffelheim, the realms where those who are fated to die reside. Despite ruling over countless souls, Hela constantly desires to grow her kingdom and conquer the world of the living.
Hela has taken control of the Nine Realms, acting on her own and with the help of her father. As an Asgardian with powerful magic and a massive army of the undead, she’s one of Thor’s most formidable enemies and a huge danger to Asgard.
7) Pixie
Megan Gwynn, known as Pixie, is a young X-Man with wings like a fairy. She can teleport and create dust that causes hallucinations. For years, Megan thought her father was a coal miner who had passed away, but her mother later told her the truth: Megan is the daughter of Mastermind, a supervillain with the power to create illusions and one of the original members of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. While this news was a shock, Megan remained true to who she was.
Megan started as a new student, but she’s grown into a beloved and capable hero, becoming a valuable part of both the X-Men and the Legion of X – and she’s still known for her positive spirit.
6) Polaris
Although it was later changed that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver weren’t Magneto’s children, he still has one child: Lorna Dane, known as Polaris. Like her father, Polaris can control magnetism and often finds herself fighting alongside – and against – the X-Men. When she first appeared, the villain Mesmero brainwashed her into battling the X-Men, but the heroes were able to free her, and she eventually became one of them.
Lorna has a complicated history with both the X-Men and the government team X-Factor, joining and leaving multiple times. She’s frequently been manipulated and mind-controlled, forced to fight against her friends, but she consistently strives to do what’s right.
5) Harry Osborn
Harry Osborn grew up with Peter Parker as a close friend, but he also carried the weight of being the son of Spider-Man’s greatest enemy, Norman Osborn, also known as the Green Goblin. At first, Harry didn’t realize his father was a supervillain, but he eventually found out the truth. After Norman died in a battle with Spider-Man, Harry learned that Peter was the masked hero. This discovery deeply affected Harry, driving him to briefly lose his sanity and take on the Green Goblin identity, using a special serum to become stronger.
Driven by a desire to avenge his father, Harry Osborn became the new Green Goblin and attempted to kill his friend, Spider-Man. He later found happiness and started a family with Liz Allen, but tragically, Harry became addicted to the Goblin serum. This addiction ultimately led to his death, marking one of Spider-Man’s most heartbreaking losses.
4) Baron Zemo
Helmut Zemo comes from a family of Barons Zemo, each of whom has tried to conquer the world. His father, the 12th Baron Zemo, was a Nazi villain who fought Captain America in World War II and later died. Driven by a desire for revenge, Helmut Zemo made it his life’s mission to defeat Captain America.
Helmut Zemo became horribly disfigured after falling into a chemical vat during a battle with an American hero. Despite this, he’s a brilliant strategist and highly skilled with a sword. As the leader of various versions of the Masters of Evil, Zemo is a persistent and formidable foe of the Avengers.
3) Gamora & Nebula
Gamora and Nebula were raised as daughters by Thanos, who trained them to be incredibly skilled and dangerous fighters. Thanos took in Gamora after her home planet was destroyed and trained her to be his assassin. While Nebula’s backstory originally didn’t mention her being adopted, Marvel later changed it to match the movie versions, establishing that she and Gamora grew up together under Thanos’s care.
I was so thrilled to see Gamora and Nebula finally stand up to Thanos! Gamora truly became a hero, joining the Guardians of the Galaxy and fighting for what’s right. And Nebula? She had a rough journey, starting as a feared space pirate, but she eventually found her own path and became an antihero, just like her sister. It was amazing to watch them overcome all the pain and abuse they suffered and actually become the sisters they deserved to be. Their story is a testament to overcoming even the most twisted pasts.
2) Carnage
Carnage is a particularly brutal symbiote born from Venom. When Venom’s host, Eddie Brock, was imprisoned, he shared a cell with the dangerous serial killer Cletus Kasady. Though Venom later freed Eddie, it left behind a part of itself that bonded with Cletus through a wound, merging with his bloodstream and creating the monstrous Carnage.
Let me tell you, this villain, Carnage, is truly terrifying. He’s basically Venom, but turned up to eleven – stronger, faster, and just plain more dangerous. He rampaged through New York, causing absolute chaos. In fact, he was such a threat that it forced Venom and Spider-Man to put aside their differences and *team up* to stop him. It’s rare to see those two working together, and that should tell you everything you need to know about how scary Carnage is. He’s a truly formidable and frightening foe.
1) Nightcrawler & Rogue
Nightcrawler and Rogue are two of the most recognizable X-Men, known for their distinctive powers and looks. Interestingly, they also share a history with one of the most troubled families in the Marvel Universe.
Kurt Wagner, better known as Nightcrawler, was abandoned as a baby by his mother, Mystique, after people tried to harm him because of his unusual appearance. He grew up to become a cheerful hero with the power to teleport and became a dedicated member of the X-Men. Mystique later adopted Rogue, a runaway, and trained her to use her ability to absorb powers against the X-Men. Eventually, Rogue had a change of heart and joined the team. Now, both Nightcrawler and Rogue have overcome their difficult pasts, reconciled with their mothers, Mystique and Destiny, and found a true family within the X-Men.
