Tracker Season 3 Just Officially Changed Colter Shaw Forever

The third season of Tracker dramatically altered Colter Shaw’s life with a surprising case. The CBS series centers on Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley), a ‘rewardist’ who finds missing people across the country for money. Over three seasons, he’s been hired by families, friends, police, and even a criminal boss. Though Colter typically works alone, he has a support team consisting of a lawyer (Reenie Greene), a tech specialist (Randy), and his newest assistant, Mel Day.

Season 3 of Tracker brought big changes for Colter and his team, largely because of the departure of key characters, Bobby and Velma. This meant Colter often had to think on his feet to solve cases, and a surprising new assignment really threw him for a loop.

Tracker Season 3 Introduced a Historic Case for Colter Shaw

In Season 3, Episode 8 of Tracker, titled “Eurydice,” Colter Shaw took on a unique and historic case: a suspect in a missing person investigation hired him to find her daughter. This was the first time in the show’s history that Colter worked with a potential suspect, fundamentally changing how he operates as a rewardist. It was a risky move for the suspect, who knowingly hired Colter with the understanding that he could expose her deception if she wasn’t telling the truth.

In episode 8, Colter was hired by Sierra Allen, who had been desperately searching for her daughter, Aubrey, for more than a year. Police suspect Sierra may be involved in Aubrey’s disappearance due to her history with alcohol and past errors in judgment. The episode opened with a scene showing Sierra intoxicated and breaking a bottle on the night Aubrey went missing, which further raised suspicions.

Colter offered to help Sierra, but with a surprising request: he wanted her to be arrested. His plan involved calling the police and turning her home into a crime scene. This was so he could investigate the disappearance without raising suspicion, and with the official assistance of law enforcement. Because the police already suspect Sierra, Colter realized working with her directly would look bad. Therefore, he needs to both find the missing daughter and prove Sierra’s innocence.

Even so, Colter shared with Detective West and retired detective Arthur Poness his belief that Sierra is not guilty and the person who actually kidnapped Aubrey remains at large. To support Sierra while she’s in police custody and to demonstrate her innocence, Colter arranged for Reenie to represent her legally until he can prove she wasn’t involved in Aubrey’s disappearance.

The latest episode of Tracker was full of surprises. It turned out Trevor’s brother, Derek Flint, was the one who originally kidnapped the victim, and he had a past relationship with Sierra. But the mystery deepened when Colter discovered Derek was already dead, found on Arthur Poness’ land. This revealed Poness as the true mastermind, though there’s one more unexpected development.

It turned out Poness was Aubrey’s grandfather, and he’d “saved” her from Derek, though his methods were disturbing. He believed taking her away from Sierra was the only way to protect her future, and even lied to her, telling her Sierra had died. However, as Colter noted, Poness had no right to make that decision for her.

How Colter’s New Case Enters Uncharted Territory for ‘Tracker’

Watching Colter on Tracker has been amazing! It’s not just about the cases he solves – he’s worked with some really surprising people over the three seasons, like a former police officer, even a mob boss, and someone who can make people vanish! Seeing him team up with potential suspects really pushes him, and you see him change, but ultimately, he always trusts his instincts. I was so glad to see he was right about the mother – he just knew she wasn’t involved in her daughter going missing.

Colter always prepares for any situation, and involving the police allowed Sierra to immediately begin proving she hadn’t done anything wrong. Her willingness to stay and face the investigation confirmed what Colter already believed – that she was innocent.

This case… it was really something else. I mean, Colter was completely convinced Sierra was innocent, and he desperately needed to find Aubrey, the woman who’d been taken. It wasn’t just about rescuing her, though – he had to get them reunited with her mom. Honestly, it felt like an impossible mission. This wasn’t just a standard missing persons thing for him; it was deeply personal. He was the only one who could clear Sierra’s name and keep her out of prison, and the weight of that was huge. It felt like he was stepping into completely unknown territory.

Arthur Poness was finally arrested, and Colter helped Sierra and Aubrey reunite, proving Sierra hadn’t committed the crime.
