We thought Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter was one of the best RPGs of 2025, so it’s great to see the fantastic remake earning a lot of money for its developer, Falcom.
Company president Toshihiro Kondo recently explained that the team felt it was time to step away from the long-running Trails series. As a result, they decided to remake their older Sky series, essentially starting over with a fresh approach.
But we wonder whether Kondo foresaw the revival being such a financial success for the developer.
Falcom announced strong financial results for the first quarter of the year, largely thanks to the successful launch of their game, 1st Chapter, in September, as reported by GameBiz and translated by Automaton.
Revenue more than doubled, increasing by over 150%, and operating profit soared by over 670% compared to last year. This significant growth follows the launch of Trails beyond the Horizon, which was initially only available in Japan.
It’s worth mentioning that the first chapter was released worldwide on the same day, which likely contributed a lot to its strong sales.
Fans in the West can be happy knowing that Falcom will likely prioritize releasing its future games globally, given the success they’ve recently seen.
It appears that’s the intention, as both Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter and the recently announced Kyoto Xanadu are planned for release worldwide.
It’s great to see Chapter 1 being so successful! Share what you’re most proud of in the comments below.
