Since first appearing in the 1980s, the Combaticons – and their powerful combined form – have always been known as some of the most fearsome Decepticons. Now, a new line of toys inspired by a popular pair of video games is on the way to excite collectors.
Rising Force, a third-party toy company, has revealed gray prototypes of their version of Bruticus and the Combaticons. The designs are heavily inspired by the video games Transformers: War for Cybertron and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, which originally came out over ten years ago. These games were praised for modernizing the classic Generation 1 Transformers story and look, and Rising Force is now recreating those updated designs.

I’m so excited – the first pictures of the Rising Force Combaticons are finally out! They shared images of the toys as they are right now, still in the early gray prototype phase. What’s really cool is that they’re designed to be about the same size as the official figures in the Transformers Generations line. And for those of us who loved the games, these designs are based on Transformers: Fall of Cybertron – the sequel to War for Cybertron from 2010! It’s awesome to see these characters brought to life like this.
These games take place before the Autobots and Decepticons arrived on Earth, during the early stages of their war. They offer a fresh take on the original Generation 1 (G1) series, fitting into a larger, evolving storyline called the “Aligned Continuity.” In one of the games, the Combaticons – a group of robots – return as they were in G1, able to merge together to form the powerful giant, Bruticus.
The Combaticons from Rising Force transform into robots that are between 5.5 and 6.5 inches tall. Their vehicle forms are similar to their original (G1) designs, but reimagined as Cybertronian vehicles. When they combine to form Bruticus, he stands over a foot tall. The team consists of Onslaught, Brawl, Blast-Off, and Vortex, and while they don’t currently come with individual weapons, those may be added in the future.
We don’t have any information yet about when these toys will be available or how much they’ll cost. However, Bruticus has been a popular character – with many new toys released by Hasbro, Takara Tomy, and other companies in recent years – making him one of the most beloved original Transformers Combiners, second only to Devastator.
