Travis Kelce doesn’t like these little games.  

In the third quarter of his initial game following his engagement to Taylor Swift, the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs found himself in a minor dispute with Teair Tart from the Los Angeles Chargers.

In videos posted on social media on September 5th, it appeared that Kelce pushed Tart following a short run by Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt. This action seemed to prompt Tart to slap the front of Kelce’s helmet forcefully. Immediately after this incident, Kelce reacted with surprise and raised his hands in the air.

Although the referee initially signaled a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty against Tart by throwing a flag during the play, they later determined that the slap in question was not severe enough to warrant disqualification.

Regarding the question as to why Tart wasn’t expelled from the game, Terry McAulay, the rules expert, clarified that the decision was based on the intricate details of the situation.

In the broadcast, Walt Anderson, a professional NFL officiating and rules analyst, explained that since the contact was made with an open hand to the head and wasn’t a punishing action severe enough for disqualification, it wasn’t deemed disqualifiable. Essentially, it was considered an open-handed strike to the head, not a closed fist punch, so they didn’t eject the player in this specific instance.

Later in the night, following their victory, Tart posted a clip from a well-known episode of The Chapelle’s Show on his Instagram Stories. This skit features Rick James slapping Charlie Murphy after he jokes, “What do five fingers say to the face?
