Travis Kelce Jokes Taylor Swift Is “Gonna Kill Me” Over This Fumble

Travis Kelce admittedly did something bad.

I was listening to the latest New Heights podcast, and it was hilarious! Travis accidentally broke a chair while they were recording at his place. He immediately joked about hoping Taylor wouldn’t find out – apparently, he considers a broken chair a ‘fumble’ now! It was such a funny, relatable moment, and really showed his personality.

During a preview of the February 4th episode, Travis Kelce was laughing at a joke told by his brother and co-host, Jason Kelce, when his chair suddenly broke. The chair tipped backwards with a loud crack, causing Travis to lose his balance.

“Oh s–t!” Jason exclaimed. “Are you alright?”

And after recovering from his stumble, Travis told the Philadelphia Eagles alum, “We’re good.”

He jokingly added, “Taylor’s gonna kill me.”

This wasn’t the first time Travis realized he’d upset Taylor Swift. Back in January, the football player joked that she’d be mad at him for not getting a mention of her upcoming 2025 song, “Wood,” which is rumored to be about him.

 

After a fan was bummed that the new podcast merchandise didn’t say “New Heights of Man-Hoodie,” New Heights producer Brandon Borders explained it was a reference to the song “Life of a Showgirl,” playfully addressing the Kelce brothers.

Brandon explained that the lyric, ‘New Heights of manhood,’ was when they were mentioned on the album.

Jason joked that he wasn’t as knowledgeable about Easter eggs as Taylor Swift’s fans, while Travis just confessed he didn’t get it.

However, Travis is definitely aware of the suggestive lyrics in the song. He’s particularly worried about his father, Ed Kelce, hearing the line, “love was the key that opened my thighs,” from the song “Wood.”

As Travis put it during an October episode of New Heights, “Dude, I’m terrified.”

Still, the athlete thinks it’s “a great song.”

Travis said he’s in love with Taylor and feels honored whenever she mentions him in her songs.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship started in July 2023 when Swift’s Eras Tour visited Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.

Being a big Taylor Swift fan, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end wanted to give her a friendship bracelet with his jersey number on it at the concert. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to deliver it because she was busy getting ready for the show.

Travis explained on his podcast, New Heights, that he was a bit upset Taylor Swift didn’t chat with fans before or after her concerts. He understood she needed to protect her voice for the 44 songs she performs, but he was hoping to give her one of the friendship bracelets he’d made.

After jokingly talking about dropping the football – something he’d later call incredibly cool – Travis decided to take a chance and invited the famous singer to come see the Chiefs play at their home stadium, Arrowhead.

He said on The Pat McAfee Show that he playfully challenged Taylor Swift. He basically told her that since she’s performed at Arrowhead Stadium, she should come see him perform there too, and see who puts on a better show. He added that fans might find out what happens soon.

Travis had grown a mustache, first showing it off in August during football training camp, when he met Taylor.

He later recalled that his mustache and number 87 jersey were a memorable look during that time, and he was wearing them when he first met Taylor.

According to a source, Travis and Taylor began communicating by text and phone calls in early September, according to TopMob News.

“It’s been very low-key,” the insider explained, “as he’s been in season.”

Taylor accepted Travis’ invitation and went to Arrowhead Stadium to watch him and the Kansas City Chiefs play the Chicago Bears, where she sat with his mother, Donna Kelce. After the game, Taylor and Travis were photographed showing affection for each other at a nearby bar.

Despite rumors that they met for the first time in person, the singer of “Karma” explained that they had actually known each other for quite a while before that.

As Taylor noted, “We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.” 

To show how close they were getting, Taylor brought a group of her friends – including Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Sophie Turner, Hugh Jackman, Sabrina Carpenter, and Antoni Porowski – to see the Chiefs play the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Taylor Swift seems to be getting close to Brittany Mahomes, wife of Travis Kelce’s best friend and teammate, Patrick Mahomes, both at and away from NFL games. This could be another hint that they’re a couple!

The couple showcased their relationship on television with a surprise appearance on the October 14th episode of Saturday Night Live. They continued their New York outing with the show’s after-party and a romantic dinner at the Waverly Inn.

During the team’s break, Travis flew to Argentina to see Taylor Swift perform as part of her Eras Tour. At the November 11th concert in Buenos Aires, he connected with Taylor’s father, Scott Swift, and Taylor even gave him a mention from the stage.

“Karma is that guy on the Chiefs,” Taylor sang, “coming straight home to me.”

Following the performance, Taylor Swift reportedly rushed backstage and excitedly kissed Travis Kelce.

Taylor addressed the lavender craze surrounding her appearances at Travis’ games.

It means the world to me to be able to support him doing what he’s passionate about, and honestly, we’re just there for each other. It doesn’t bother us at all that others are around – we don’t care who knows we’re together. It’s the complete opposite of having to hide everything and go to great lengths just to keep our relationship secret.

 

The famous singer made Travis’ game on December 17th a family event, bringing her father along to support her boyfriend.

Taylor and Travis celebrated New Year’s Eve together and shared a kiss at midnight on January 1st.

Taylor continued getting to know Travis’ family and spent time with his brother, Jason Kelce, and sister-in-law, Kylie Kelce, while attending the Chiefs game against the Buffalo Bills.

After the Chiefs won the AFC Championship and secured their place in the 2024 Super Bowl, Taylor joined Travis on the field. They celebrated with a kiss and then told each other ‘I love you.’

“Tay, I’m gonna enjoy with the guys,” he told her. “I love you—so much it’s not funny.”

Over two years after Travis mentioned Taylor on his podcast, sparking widespread excitement, the couple announced their engagement. In a playful nod to Taylor’s song “So High School,” they shared their engagement photos on Instagram with the caption, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
