For Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift is New York City, and it still does it for him. 

During the Kansas City Chiefs’ break from games, tight end Travis Kelce and singer Taylor Swift were seen out and about in New York City. Travis recently shared what it was like experiencing life as a city dweller for a few days.

Travis recently described his time off as relaxing – he enjoyed putting his feet up, seeing interesting sights, and eating delicious food. He especially loved experiencing the energy of a big city, noting that fall in the Midwest and Northeast is his favorite time of year. He said the whole trip was a lot of fun.

Travis, 36, spent time with his fiancée during their break, enjoying outings at places like The Polo Bar and Zero Bond. He also visited Puffy’s Tavern, a spot in Taylor’s Tribeca neighborhood.

Travis said he caught up with some old friends and made some new ones while at the popular bar in New York.

Like Taylor, Travis could dance to the beat that New York provides forevermore. 

He told his brother, Jason Kelce, that he loves simply wandering around the city. He considers it one of his favorite things to do in New York – to really experience the energy of the city, observe people going about their lives, and maybe even meet someone new along the way.

He added, “That’s another reason I love New York, I love to people watch.”

New York City has become a significant location in Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship. They were first seen together there in 2023, enjoying dinner and even attending Taylor’s friend Ice Spice’s performance on Saturday Night Live.

Taylor has always had a special connection to New York City, both for her music and her life outside of it, even before she started dating Travis.

In August 2023, a teammate hinted at the tight end’s interest in Taylor in a TikTok video posted by the Chiefs. Looking back, this seems to be around the time they began secretly dating.

Honestly, before Travis even had a chance to reply when asked about his celebrity crush, Marquez Valdes-Scantling just blurted out, “Taylor Swift!” It was hilarious – he didn’t even let Travis get a word in!

Travis smiled at the camera before holding his finger up to his mustache, saying, “Alright now!”

As a lifestyle observer, I’m really seeing how Taylor’s new relationship feels like a total shift! After being with Joe for six years and keeping things very private, it’s so interesting to watch her embrace something lighter and more fun with this athlete. He recently signed a new two-year contract with the Chiefs worth $34.25 million, which shows his success, but more than that, it’s the vibe that feels different. It’s a refreshing change after such a long, private chapter in her life, especially considering things with Joe ended in April 2023.

It seems the ten-time Pro Bowler got his wish! He openly expressed his strong feelings for the superstar, and it looks like that effort paid off, leading to a relationship.

Travis revealed he tried to meet Taylor at her Eras Tour concert in Kansas City on July 7, 2023, but it didn’t go as planned. He’d made a friendship bracelet with his “number” on it – though he didn’t specify if it was his jersey or phone number – hoping to give it to her.

Since she started dating Travis, Taylor Swift has been out and about more often, whether it’s hanging out with friends in New York City or celebrating at events like the 2023 MTV VMAs and the 2024 Grammys.

Her most discussed public appearance was at the Chiefs game on September 24, 2023, where she sat in Travis’ suite while they played the Chicago Bears.

Jason shared on the “New Heights” podcast that seeing his mom was a very emotional experience for him. He described it as amazing, saying she was incredibly happy for a whole week.

Travis said, “She was a true champion.” He explained that she was completely in control and performed brilliantly throughout.”

In his interview with the Wall Street Journal, Travis showed he can handle the challenges of being married to someone as famous and influential as Taylor.

I’ve never been with someone who carries themselves like that, so this is new territory for me,” he admitted. “But I’m not intimidated by it, and I’m willing to see where things go.”

She’s constantly under intense public attention – photographers follow her everywhere, from her home to restaurants and even after flights – and she’s just trying to live her life. He feels that if she can handle it all with grace, he should be able to as well.

Fans are convinced Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce belong in a romantic comedy after a video surfaced of them sharing a passionate kiss following her Argentina concert in November 2023. The sweet moment came after Taylor playfully changed the lyrics to her song Karma from “the guy on the screen” to “the guy on the Chiefs”—a surprise for Travis, who was in the audience with Taylor’s father, Scott Swift.

Supporting each other at games – Taylor went to 13 Chiefs games during her first season with Travis, even flying directly from a concert in Tokyo to attend the Super Bowl – demonstrates how committed they are to each other.

Taylor explained to TIME that they enjoy openly supporting each other. “We’re happy to be there for each other, and we don’t worry about what other people think,” she said. “It’s the opposite of hiding a relationship – we’re just proud to be together.”

If you’re bothered by Taylor Swift attending NFL games, she’s simply not going to let it upset her.

She explained that there’s a camera about half a mile away, and she has no idea where it is or when it might be broadcasting her image. She wasn’t sure if she was on screen a lot or hardly at all. She was simply there to support Travis and wasn’t concerned about whether she was getting too much airtime and potentially annoying some viewers.

Killa Trav’s birthday is October 5th, and it’s a pretty interesting coincidence – he shares it with Taylor Swift‘s grandmother, Marjorie Finlay, who inspired Taylor’s song “Marjorie” on the album evermore. It almost feels like it’s meant to be!
