In 2023, Trigun Stampede revived the classic anime character Vash the Stampede with a new adaptation from Studio Orange. While staying truer to the original story, Stampede made significant changes from the initial Trigun series. Now, Trigun Stargaze has released a trailer revealing exciting news: a major ally who didn’t appear in Stampede will be returning.
Fans of the classic anime *Trigun* will be excited to hear that *Trigun Stargaze* is coming to Crunchyroll in January of 2026. Vash the Stampede will be back with familiar allies Nicholas D. Wolfwood and Meryl Stryfe as they continue their fight against Vash’s brother, Knives. Plus, Milly Thompson – the tall insurance agent and close friend of Meryl and Wolfwood from the original series – will finally appear, after being left out of *Trigun Stampede*.
Milly Returns
Want to know more about *Trigun Stargaze*? Here’s a description from Crunchyroll of the new series that will conclude Vash the Stampede’s story: It’s been two and a half years since the devastating Lost JuLai incident, which caused widespread chaos. Meryl, now an experienced journalist, continues to search for Vash, accompanied by her new assistant, Milly. They encounter Wolfwood and begin investigating a series of plant robberies, suspecting the involvement of Millions Knives’ organization. Meanwhile, Vash is living in hiding under the name Eriks when he’s unexpectedly visited by Jessica, a young girl with a distress signal from their ship. This prompts him to finally resolve a long-running conflict to protect the people he cares about.
I watched as things finally started to make sense, and then a message arrived from deep space. It claimed to be from a fleet of colony ships originally from Earth, offering anyone who wanted to join them a chance at a new life. The whole planet erupted in joy! But the celebration felt cut short when the one-winged angel returned, seemingly determined to ruin everything. It felt like everyone’s destiny was about to crash together, leading to a dramatic end for the planet.
As a huge fan, I was really struck by how much the character designs evolved in *Trigun Stampede*! Vash got a totally new look, Knives went all-out with a wild outfit and some seriously cool new abilities, and even their backstories were tweaked. But with *Stargaze*, I’m starting to see Vash lean more into the classic anime hero vibe, and I’m really hoping that means we’ll see more of the characters embrace designs closer to the original series – that would be amazing!
