Tron: Ares Disney+ Release Date Set for Streaming Debut

Tron: Ares is an upcoming action-adventure film about a powerful AI program named Ares. According to the official description, Ares is sent from the digital world to the real world on a risky mission, marking the first time humans come into contact with artificial intelligence beings.

When is the Disney+ release date for Tron: Ares?

Tron: Ares, starring Jared Leto, will begin streaming on Disney+ on January 7, 2026. The movie didn’t do well in theaters, earning just over $142 million worldwide on a budget estimated between $180 and $220 million.

Disney+ will also offer the newest Tron film in IMAX Enhanced, meaning viewers can see it with an expanded screen size as originally envisioned by the filmmakers. Those with compatible TVs and sound systems can even enjoy enhanced sound quality with DTS, replicating the full cinematic audio experience at home.

Joachim Rønning directed ‘Tron: Ares’, with a script by Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne. The movie stars Jodie Turner-Smith, Greta Lee, Gillian Anderson, Evan Peters, Cameron Monaghan, and Sarah Desjardins. Jeff Bridges returns as Kevin Flynn, a role he last played in ‘Tron: Legacy’ over ten years ago. Adding to the film’s atmosphere is an original score by Nine Inch Nails.
