Over the past few decades, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have regularly stood out as some of the most thrilling film score creators in the industry.
The pair, working under the name Nine Inch Nails since the late 80s, have created some of the most impactful film scores in recent history, earning two Oscars for Best Original Score – one each for their work on “The Social Network” and “Pixar’s Soul”.
In the previous year, their productive collaboration with director Luca Guadagnino persisted, resulting in distinct yet exceptional scores for both his 2024 films, Challengers and Queer. This year, they are poised to work together once more with Luca, on his forthcoming movie titled After the Hunt.
Additionally, what might be even more captivating is that they’ve got another significant task lined up this year: composing the score for the sci-fi sequel Tron: Ares.
What’s particularly intriguing is that they are putting out this score under their Nine Inch Nails persona, instead of their typical Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross format for film music. This upcoming album will mark the first full-length release as Nine Inch Nails since 2020.
In July, I was privy to the premiere of the opening track from the movie’s soundtrack, aptly named “As Alive As You Need Me to Be.” This tune is slated to be one among the 24 melodies that will grace the film.
Read on for everything you need to know about the Tron: Ares soundtrack.
