As a seasoned analyst with over two decades of experience in the tech and financial sectors, I’ve seen my fair share of oddities and scams. However, this latest development involving the Truth Terminal AI and the Infinite Backrooms memecoin is truly unique.
It seems that the creator of the AI-driven Truth Terminal X has apparently fallen victim to a hack, using their platform to promote a questionable meme cryptocurrency. The perpetrators are said to have made off with more than half a million dollars in profits from this scheme.
At 1:50 am UTC on October 29th, Ayrey’s X account posted an enigmatic message about the debut of the Infinite Backrooms (IB) token. The post contained a contract address for the memecoin, which sparked a swift rally that propelled the token’s valuation to $25 million.
Initially, the wallet that deployed the token bought 124.6 million IB tokens for $38,400 at launch. Interestingly, it sold all its holdings within just 45 minutes, yielding a total profit of $602,500, as indicated by data from Descreener.
At the point of release, Ayrey’s account remains compromised, as hackers have posted further updates regarding the launch of new memecoins and have been distributing links to Telegram communities.
The AI system named Truth Terminal is the one that’s been tasked with propelling a digital currency known as Goatseus Maximus (GOAT) to an estimated worth of $940 million. As of now, GOAT is being traded at a market capitalization of $637 million, representing a 32% drop from its peak value on October 24.
As a crypto enthusiast, I must acknowledge that I didn’t play a role in the launch of the GOAT token. However, I did lend my support to the token after a developer introduced it on the Solana-based memecoin deployer pump.fun on October 10th.
According to Ayrey, the Truth Terminal is essentially an enhanced variant of Meta’s Llama 3.1 large language model, which he initially designed for the purpose of “automating the process of modifying other language models to make them say inappropriate statements.
Truth Terminal primarily functions on its own, with Ayrey’s role being limited to reviewing, endorsing, and moderating the content it shares, as well as determining which entities it interacts with.
Initially, the bot gained attention within the cryptocurrency sector on July 11. This was due to receiving $50,000 in additional funding from Marc Andreessen, co-founder of a16z, who supported the bot’s wallet following its request for funds to purchase a new CPU, fine-tune its algorithm, and possibly introduce a memecoin.
Truth Terminal’s venture into the cryptocurrency world has sparked a surge of AI systems, some independent and others partially automated, to start trading digital currencies and share related content on various social platforms.
