Harrison Ford is a huge star in Hollywood, having starred in many successful films since he began acting in the 1960s. Surprisingly, despite his long career, he’s only been in one fully animated movie. That movie has recently been added to Tubi, and fans are still hoping for a follow-up, even though it’s been six years since its release.
After reprising his iconic roles as Han Solo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) and Rick Deckard in Blade Runner 2049 (2017), Harrison Ford took on his first animated role as Rooster, a cantankerous farm dog, in The Secret Life of Pets 2. The Illumination film became available on Tubi’s free streaming service on December 1st. The movie continues the story several years after the original, following Max, a popular house dog, as he navigates new experiences like a baby sibling and life on a farm.
Harrison Ford’s Animated Debut in The Secret Life of Pets 2 Was a Hit
Though Chris Ford was new to animation, his first movie was a big success. The Secret Life of Pets 2 earned $431 million worldwide on an $80 million budget, making it both financially and critically well-received. While critics gave it a 60% rating on Rotten Tomatoes – 10% lower than the first film – audiences loved it even more, giving it a ‘Verified Hot’ rating with a 90% approval score.
Just like the first The Secret Life of Pets movie, the sequel was a lot of fun, silly, and touching, with animation that appealed to everyone. A standout performance came from Ford, whose deep, rough voice was a perfect match for his character – a grumpy dog who playfully echoed the kinds of roles the actor is known for, providing a great contrast to Max’s worried personality.
So far, Kevin Hart hasn’t been able to record his lines as Snowball for the third Secret Life of Pets movie. While the studio announced plans for it back in 2022, updates have been scarce. The CEO mentioned a third film was being developed, but we haven’t heard much since about the story or which actors will be involved. As of now, it’s unclear where the movie stands in production.
