The new spin-off series from Paramount+ has been significantly reworked, and now has a different title.
The series starring Samuel L. Jackson, formerly known as NOLA King, is now officially titled Frisco King. This change reflects the show’s new location – it’s been moved from New Orleans to Frisco, Texas.
Meanwhile, Tulsa King creator Taylor Sheridan will now write all eight episodes of the series.
This announcement follows Dave Erickson’s exit from the series. He wrote the first episode and was originally planned to be the show’s main creative lead, but left in July.
A new showrunner hasn’t been named yet, and it’s uncertain if one will be – Taylor Sheridan doesn’t always use them for his shows.
Paramount Studios president Matt Thunell expressed excitement about Taylor Sheridan writing the first season of Frisco King and developing the memorable character originally created by Samuel L. Jackson.
Fans of Tulsa King and viewers everywhere will really enjoy having him write every episode of the new season, as his unique style will shine through.

The initial concept for the show centered on Russell Lee Washington Jr. (Jackson). After becoming friends with Dwight Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone) while they were both in prison for ten years, Russell is dispatched from New York’s Renzetti crime family to Tulsa with the mission of killing Dwight.
Following the events in Tulsa and encouraged by the idea of fresh starts, Washington goes back to New Orleans – a city he left four decades earlier. He hopes to reconnect with his loved ones and reclaim a place in the city he once called home.
By taking this action, he angers his previous bosses in New York and re-opens old conflicts with enemies in New Orleans, including both criminals and police officers.
It’s not yet clear how much of the original plan has changed along with the new setting.
Casting is under way, with filming scheduled to begin next month in Fort Worth, Texas.
