While Netflix announced plans for an animated series based on Midnight Sun in 2024, we haven’t received any recent updates. However, a prominent actor from the original Twilight films recently shared their interest in directing a new adaptation, which is exciting news for fans.
Kristen Stewart recently told Entertainment Tonight that she’s eager to direct more films. When asked if she’d ever consider revisiting one of her past roles as a director, the conversation turned to Twilight. Stewart shared that she’d been discussing the movie with a friend, noting how often it’s shown on TV during the holidays and wondering how it holds up over time, as many families watch it together every Christmas.
I really admire the work Catherine and Chris, and all the directors, did on those films. They were so authentic and unique, capturing a specific moment when they were still finding their voices before becoming famous. I think it would be amazing to revisit those stories with a bigger budget and more support. I’d love to remake them, actually – I’m definitely interested and committed to the idea.
