The critically acclaimed second season of “Star Wars: Andor” aired earlier this year and has now garnered several prestigious nominations. Today, Emmy nominations were revealed, with “Andor” receiving a total of 14 nods spanning various categories, including two acting categories. Forest Whitaker was recognized for his guest acting role in a drama series, nominated as Outstanding Guest Actor, for his portrayal of Saw Gerrera in the episode “I Have Friends Everywhere.” Alan Tudyk also received a nomination in the category of Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance, for his depiction of K-2SO in the episode “Who Else Knows?” Both actors initially played their characters in the film “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” before reprising their roles in “Andor.
In addition to its recognition in leading roles, Andor was also nominated across various creative aspects like screenwriting and direction, as well as numerous technical and artisan categories. The detailed list of Andor’s nominations is provided in the space below for your perusal:

The second season of ‘Andor’ outshone its first in Emmy nominations. While the initial season garnered a total of eight, none were acting-related, it did secure recognition for Outstanding Drama Series, exceptional direction in a Drama Series (for “Rix Road”), and outstanding writing in a Drama Series (for “One Way Out”).
As a devoted film enthusiast, I eagerly dived into the second season of “Andor” in late April and was left utterly captivated by its universally acclaimed narrative. This mesmerizing continuation resonated deeply with viewers, earning rave reviews for its poignant and riveting conclusion to the storyline.
By skillfully recontextualizing pivotal characters and elements from “Rogue One,” “Andor” enriched our understanding of that film, subtly altering how fans perceive it. The series has undeniably left an indelible mark on the Star Wars universe, compelling us to view “Rogue One” through a new lens.
However, the news that showrunner Tony Gilroy is stepping away from the franchise to pursue other creative endeavors leaves me with a bittersweet feeling. Though I eagerly await his future works, I can’t help but wonder what more he could have brought to this captivating tale.
Fans who adore “Rogue One” won’t find it surprising that Whitaker and Tudyk received nominations, given their exceptional performances in the movie. Forest Whitaker masterfully depicted the psychological toll war takes on a man, creating a paranoid freedom fighter character in Saw who was always on edge. On the other hand, Alan Tudyk brought plenty of humor to the role, playing K-2SO with a sharp and sarcastic demeanor. Both actors continue to shine in their brief appearances in “Andor”. In the episode “I Have Friends Everywhere”, Saw delivers a powerful speech about revolution to Wilmon, a memorable moment from Season 2. Additionally, Tudyk deepens K-2SO’s relationship with Cassian in the episode “Who Else Knows?”
Although Whitaker and Tudyk’s nominations are well-deserved, fans of Andor might feel let down that other cast members weren’t recognized. The entire ensemble is exceptional. Actors like Diego Luna, Stellan Skarsgård, Genevieve O’Reilly, Elizabeth Dulau, Denise Gough, and Kyle Soller were all captivating. Ben Mendelsohn could have been acknowledged for his chilling portrayal of Director Krennic; his interrogation of Dedra Meero is another standout moment from Season 2. It’s unfortunate that only two Andor actors received Emmy nods, but it doesn’t diminish the fact that everyone involved in the show created something truly remarkable.
