Two New Nintendo Switch 2 Games Announced That Will Be Free for Some

I’m so excited! Nintendo just announced two free games coming to the Switch 2! What’s even cooler is that if you already own either of these games on the current Switch – one just launched on the eShop this month – you’ll get a free upgrade. And the best part? One of them is coming out before the end of this month, with the other planned for December! It’s great news for Switch owners!

Nintendo Switch 2 owners have a lot of exciting games coming up! Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment launches November 6th, followed by Kirby Air Riders on November 20th, and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond on December 4th. Plus, Pokemon Legends: Z-A is available now. If you can find the time between these releases, both new games are worth checking out – they’re both great titles.

Factorio

Factorio, the popular construction and management game developed by Wube Software, is currently only available on the Nintendo Switch. While there’s no firm release date yet, the developers are hoping to launch a version for the new Switch 2 console in December.

If you haven’t played it yet, this game launched in 2020 after being in development for four years. Since it first came out nearly ten years ago, it’s sold over 3.5 million copies and received a score of 90 on Metacritic. The Space Age expansion isn’t included when you buy the game, but that extra content is now coming to Nintendo Switch and the new Switch 2 console.

The game revolves around creating and running factories. You’ll need to gather resources through mining, develop new technologies, and automate your production lines. Be prepared to defend your creations from enemies who will try to tear down everything you’ve worked so hard to build.

Ball x Pit

I just got my hands on Ball x Pit, a really cool new game where you break bricks, build a base, and try to survive – it’s got that roguelite twist, so every run is different. Kenny Sun developed it, and Devolver Digital published it, and it came out on October 15th. They’re also releasing a version for the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 28th, which is kinda weird – I’m not sure why they didn’t launch both versions at the same time!

This game, highly rated with an 87 on Metacritic, puts you in the role of a treasure hunter searching for riches within the ruins of the ancient “Ballbylon” empire. Our review team was very impressed with how the game successfully combines different types of gameplay.

Both games have received excellent reviews from both critics and players. On Steam, they both have the highest possible rating – “Overwhelmingly Positive.” Factorio has a 98% approval rating based on over 109,000 reviews, while Ball x Pitt boasts a 95% approval rating from over 3,000 users.
