Two of the Funniest Comedies of the 2010s Return to Streaming (And For Free)

In simpler language, Tubi is offering more laughs this August by adding not just one but two highly comedic films from the 2010s to its already extensive movie collection. Some of the newly added titles include “Baby Driver”, “Matilda”, and “Stand By Me”, while the service now also streams fan-favorites such as “Bridesmaids” and “Horrible Bosses”. The 2010s saw the release of numerous hilarious films like “Easy A”.

Starting August 1st, you can now stream the comedy action movies “21 Jump Street” (starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum) and its sequel “22 Jump Street” on Tubi. These movies are spin-offs from the original Fox TV series “21 Jump Street,” which aired from 1987 to 1991. In these films, Hill and Tatum play cops Morton Schmidt and Greg Jenko, who work undercover in the Jump Street unit, posing as students first at a high school and then at a university to take down drug rings. Keep in mind that Tubi’s streaming library changes frequently, so it’s uncertain how long these movies will be available for free streaming on the platform.

Why You Should Watch 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street

The 2012 film “21 Jump Street” and its 2014 sequel, titled “22 Jump Street,” were both financially and critically acclaimed, and it’s not hard to understand why. These movies earned the coveted title of “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes, with scores of 85% and 84% from critics for the original and sequel respectively. The duo effectively combines action and humor, provides a delightful touch of nostalgia, and showcases excellent chemistry between Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum.

In the 2010s, these movies are fondly recalled as some of the most hilarious comedies. They stand out not just for their witty satire of the reboot trend and the original 21 Jump Street series, but also because of Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum’s comedic talents and camaraderie. The humor is quick, dirty, and consistently amusing.

The high school setting in the first films brings back memories of teenage fears and unease. Conversely, the college setting in the sequels contrasts with Schmidt and Jenko’s outdated approach to their tasks, leading to a lot of awkward moments and scenarios.
