This year, Shueisha’s Jump Square magazine is adding two new manga series that have already gained attention from fans of Kagurabachi. Higan no Hotaru, created by new artist Mochitsuki Maccha, will start appearing in the magazine on June 4th, 2026. The artwork for this series is reminiscent of Kagurabachi, showing the main character drawing his sword in a similar pose to Chihiro Rokuhira. Another new series, Rei Bai Dei by Oono Kouji, will debut on July 3rd, 2026. While its art style isn’t as similar to Kagurabachi, it also features a protagonist who uses a blade.
Kagurabachi Anime Is All But Guaranteed Soon

Since its release, Kagurabachi has quickly become a hit. Takeru Hokazono’s first manga immediately drew readers in with its compelling story and stunning artwork, and its popularity has continued to grow. Launched in September 2023, it’s already one of the most successful series in Weekly Shonen Jump, even without an anime. By October 2025, over 3 million copies had been printed, and sales have been rapidly increasing ever since.
Although it hasn’t been officially announced, an anime adaptation is very likely coming soon, and we might hear something this year. The series is already popular, so most people expect the anime to do well. Talk about a possible anime started in 2024 when Shueisha applied for trademarks covering animation and other related products. These trademarks are important for protecting the rights to an anime, and fans see it as a strong indication that the project is moving forward.
Toyo Keizai reported in December 2024 that CygamesPictures, a collaboration between CyberAgent and Shochiku Production, is creating the anime adaptation. The studio then announced in January that they would be making a significant reveal at AnimeJapan 2026, which takes place March 28-29, 2026, at Tokyo Big Sight. Given that Shonen Jump typically waits over two years to announce an anime, this makes it even more probable that Kagurabachi will finally get the news fans are hoping for.
