*Warning – contains full spoilers for all eight episodes of Two Weeks in August.*
Now that new episodes of Two Weeks in August are being released weekly on BBC One, the entire series is already available on BBC iPlayer, so many viewers likely know how the difficult vacation ends.
The season ends with everything falling apart for the group, quite literally. They desperately try to escape the island, which is now engulfed in wildfires, and fight to find a way off before it’s too late.
At the same time, everyone was navigating their own challenges: Dan, Zoe, Solomon, and Jess all faced difficulties in their marriages, while Nat and Jacob’s close friendship was questioned.
Want to know how “Two Weeks in August” concluded and what happened to everyone? Here’s a complete rundown of the ending.
Two Weeks in August ending explained: Did Zoe and Solomon get together?

Zoe and Solomon shared their first kiss near the end of the season, and the finale showed them making plans for a future together. This included leaving their current partners and beginning a new life once they returned to the UK.
Solomon quickly landed the acting role he’d been hoping for when the first actor chose to focus on family. He was thrilled at first, but a conversation with Avery, where she pointed out he often put her last, made him reconsider the opportunity.
While all of that was happening, Zoe told Jess something surprising: Solomon hadn’t ended things with his ex-girlfriend before he started dating her. Jess cautioned Zoe that being with Solomon meant always taking a backseat, as he always needed to be the center of attention.
As they said goodbye, Zoe encouraged Solomon to accept the acting opportunity, acknowledging they were heading in separate directions. It appeared Solomon would be leaving with Jess and her family on one boat, while Zoe would depart on another with her children.
It’s unclear if they have a long-term future together back home, but right now it seems like their time together was just a short-lived holiday romance.
Did Jacob and Will stay together?

Jacob and Will had split up, but Nat persuaded Jacob he was afraid of commitment. Nat also felt their overly close friendship was hindering both of their individual development.
I’ve been following Jacob and Will’s story, and it was really touching to see them open up and talk honestly about their relationship and what was bothering them. By the end, I honestly felt a lot more hopeful about their future together – things had been shaky for a while, but it felt like they were finally on more solid ground.
What happened between Avery and James?

In the final scene, Avery and Nat went to James and Flick’s home. While Nat asked about the boat that Jacob and Will had been on, Avery chatted with James, and the two of them started to connect.
She quietly took him away from the party, and later Nat discovered she was sitting with him on his bed, both of them still dressed. When Avery left, Nat wondered if she wanted to explain what had occurred.
Avery just said “no,” and we never found out what actually happened. Regardless, Avery appeared happy, peaceful, and confident afterward.
Did the group get off the island?

Yes, they all left except for Nat. She stayed on the island to fix up the old house she owned, while everyone else rowed back home.
Solomon, Jess, and their children traveled together on one boat with Will’s friends. Will and Jacob joined James and Flick on their yacht, while Zoe and her kids were on a separate boat. Dan decided to travel by himself.

Did Zoe and Dan split up?

Zoe ended things with Dan early in the season, and then had a brief relationship with Jon. Although Dan initially tried to save things, seeing Zoe kiss Solomon made him realize it was truly over.
The couple argued several times during the final episode, and both confessed to feeling lonely throughout their relationship.
Eventually, Zoe and Dan each took a rowboat and left the island. Zoe was with the children, and Dan was alone. The boats drifted close together, and the kids asked if their parents were still going through with the divorce.
Zoe said, “Yes, but we both love you very much.” Dan nodded, accepting the inevitable. They continued rowing in their separate boats, slowly moving away from each other as the island burned behind them.
