Two Xbox Games Are Currently Some of the Best-Selling Switch Games on the eShop

Currently, two popular games on the Nintendo eShop are actually originally from Xbox. While Xbox doesn’t have as widely celebrated a history of exclusive games as PlayStation or Nintendo, it has still released some fantastic titles since it entered the gaming market with the original Xbox, particularly during the Xbox 360 era. The Xbox One generation was a bit more challenging, but it still produced some excellent games. Notably, two of the best Metroidvania-style games from that generation were Xbox exclusives, and they’re now proving very popular with Nintendo Switch players.

As a huge fan of Metroidvanias, I’m not surprised to see *Hades*, *Hollow Knight: Silksong*, *Hollow Knight*, and *Hades II* dominating the Nintendo Switch eShop charts right now! But what really caught my eye is seeing *Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition* at number five, and *Ori and the Will of the Wisps* right behind *Stardew Valley* at number seven. Both *Ori* games have been available on Switch for a while – *Blind Forest* since 2019 and *Will of the Wisps* since 2020 – and it turns out they’re both on sale right now. That explains why everyone’s grabbing them!

Ori and the Blind Forest

First launched in 2015 for PC and Xbox One, *Ori and the Blind Forest* is a critically acclaimed platform-adventure game – and the very first title from developer Moon Studios. It was a huge success, earning a score of 90 on Metacritic and four nominations at The Game Awards, winning Best Art Direction. The game sold very well, leading to a sequel. Currently, you can grab it on the eShop for just $4.99 – a massive 75% discount – but this deal only lasts for the next three days.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

The follow-up game, *Ori and the Will of the Wisps*, came out in 2020, near the end of the Xbox One’s lifespan. It was even more critically acclaimed than the first game, earning a score of 93 on Metacritic. Despite this, it received only three nominations at The Game Awards that year and didn’t win any. However, 2020 was a particularly competitive year for games. Right now, you can get it for only $7.49 – a 75% discount!

Our review of the sequel highlighted how captivating it is, especially its exciting action, intriguing story, and stunning graphics. Luckily, the original game offers all the same great qualities! The recent sales are definitely boosting their popularity on the Nintendo eShop, but the games’ quality speaks for itself. Both are among the best Metroidvania games released in the last decade and are a must-play for any fan of the genre.
