Two games that were previously only available on Xbox Series X are now coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 this month. One is already available in the Nintendo eShop, and the other will be released later this month. Interestingly, one of these games was developed by an Xbox-owned studio, while the reason for the other game being exclusive to Xbox in the first place is still a mystery.
Here are the two Xbox games everyone’s talking about. Both have been well-received by critics and players, and they’re currently available at a discount!
Back to the Dawn
Back to the Dawn is a role-playing game created by Metal Head Games and published by Spiral Games. It became fully available in July of last year on PC and Xbox Series X after spending two years in Steam Early Access.
Okay, so the critics gave the game an 81, which isn’t bad, but honestly, players seem to love it. On Steam, it’s got an ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ rating – that’s the best you can get! Almost 96% of the 1,168 people who reviewed it on Steam recommend it. It’s a different story on Xbox though, where it’s sitting around a 4 out of 5 stars after about 400 reviews, which feels more in line with what the critics said.
The game Back to the Dawn is now available on the Nintendo Switch 2 through the Nintendo eShop. While it costs $23.99 on Xbox and PC, it’s more expensive on the Switch 2, currently priced at $34.99.
South of Midnight
This month, the most notable Xbox game coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 is the action-adventure game South of Midnight. It’s not necessarily a better game than others, but it was a larger release last year simply because it’s published by Xbox – specifically, by Xbox studio Compulsion Games.
When South of Midnight launched last spring, it received generally positive reviews – a combined score of 76 on Metacritic, 4 out of 5 stars on the Xbox Store, and a 94% approval rating on Steam. However, despite these decent scores and marketing support from Xbox, the game didn’t sell well and very few people played it, making it one of the biggest commercial failures of 2025.
I’m really excited because this game is getting a second chance! It’s coming out on both PlayStation 5 and the new Nintendo Switch 2 on March 31st. I’m still waiting to hear how much it’ll cost on the Switch, but right now it’s $40 on Xbox and PC.
