Tyrese Gibson is facing legal trouble over an incident involving his pets.
Police in Atlanta have obtained an arrest warrant for the Fast and Furious actor as part of an investigation into animal cruelty, according to Fulton County Police Animal Services Captain Nicole Dwyer, who spoke with WSB-TV on September 29th. The warrant was issued after his dogs reportedly attacked and caused the death of a neighbor’s pet.
Dwyer stated that allowing the animals to roam freely was a case of negligence for the homeowner and pet owner. “And now,” he added, “they have killed an innocent animal.”
Authorities confirmed to several news sources that the incident happened on the evening of September 18th. Harrison Parker, Gibson’s neighbor, discovered his Cavalier King Charles Spaniel deceased in his driveway and immediately contacted 911. Parker had allowed his dog to roam in his front yard – which was secured by an invisible fence – directly opposite Gibson’s property in Buckhead.
Parker shared with WSB-TV that he discovered his dog, Henry, had died in the driveway. “It’s just awful not hearing him around,” he said.
Officials state that video from a doorbell camera captured Gibson’s animals attacking Parker’s dog. On September 22nd, they received a warrant to search Gibson’s property, but the actor-who plays Roman Pearce in the Fast and Furious movies-was not there at the time.
Oh my gosh, I just read the statement, and it’s heartbreaking! Gabe Banks, Mel Gibson’s lawyer, told TopMob News that Mel is absolutely devastated. He wants everyone to know he sends his “deepest condolences to the family who lost their beloved dog to this tragic incident that occurred while Mr. Gibson was away from his home.” I mean, can you imagine? It’s just awful, and he’s clearly so upset about it. I just feel so bad for everyone involved.
The statement said that after hearing about the accident, Mr. Gibson quickly decided to find a secure and caring home for his dogs. Regarding the minor legal issue, Mr. Gibson is fully working with the authorities to handle and resolve it responsibly.
Banks mentioned that Gibson is asking for “privacy and understanding” while he deals with this matter, and emphasized that “he remains committed to the safety of his community and the well-being of all animals.”
TopMob News has reached out to Atlanta police for comment but has not yet heard back.
