Ubisoft Cuts Jobs at Massive Entertainment, with The Division 3 Still in Development

Ubisoft is moving forward with layoffs, affecting around 55 employees at two of its studios, including the team behind the game The Division at Massive Entertainment.

These plans were made official last year as the publisher aimed to reorganize its businesses. However, the layoffs at Massive Entertainment were surprising, especially since the studio is actively developing The Division 3 and continuing to support The Division 2 with new content.

Like another Swedish studio, Ubisoft Stockholm has been affected by recent cost-cutting measures at the company. However, Ubisoft says its overall plans for the studio haven’t changed.

It’s also important to note that Ubisoft recently closed its Halifax studio, which focused on mobile games, resulting in over 70 job losses. This confirms that Ubisoft is moving forward with a major company-wide restructuring.

2026 is set to be a crucial year for Ubisoft. As you may remember, in 2025, Ubisoft partnered with Chinese company Tencent, forming Vantage Studios. This new studio now oversees Ubisoft’s biggest and most well-known games.

Ubisoft needs to start releasing successful games soon, and these changes to how they work are meant to make game development smoother and easier.

What’s your take on Ubisoft these days? Do you think the company will be in a good place by 2026, or is it still facing challenges? Share your opinions in the comments below.
