Ubisoft revealed the creation of Vantage Studios, a new “creative house” where Tencent holds a 25% ownership. This studio will now oversee some of Ubisoft’s most popular game series, such as Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six.
The new subsidiary will be headed by Charlie Guillemot and Christophe Derennes. It will focus on developing and growing Ubisoft’s most valuable game franchises, and will do so by “leveraging Ubisoft’s established knowledge and resources, offering shared services and technology, and empowering developers with greater creative control over their projects.”
Vantage Studios represents the initial phase of Ubisoft’s larger evolution, with future plans to establish more creative teams. The company aims to unite its various brands and franchises, fostering a consistent creative identity and leveraging shared development skills.
The studio, and similar creative groups in the future, aims to “build closer, more meaningful relationships between game creators and players.” This will give developers more independence and speed up the process of collecting and using player feedback. Importantly, it will still provide the advantages of Ubisoft’s knowledge, resources, tools, and technology.
Vantage Studios is made up of teams located within Ubisoft’s studios in Montreal, Quebec, Sherbrooke, Saguenay, Barcelona, and Sofia. This collaboration unites thousands of developers from around the globe.
