As a gamer, I think the Uncharted series is easily one of the most memorable franchises out there, especially when you consider how relatively new it is compared to other games in the action-adventure genre. It’s pretty amazing how quickly it became so iconic!

Honestly, playing as Nathan Drake in those four Uncharted games felt like starring in a big-budget action movie – it was incredible! It’s really disappointing that we haven’t gotten a new game in the series for over a decade now. I’m still hoping for another adventure!

Okay, so Naughty Dog hasn’t officially said anything, but I just saw some new info that’s making me think whatever ‘it’ is might be coming back sooner than we all thought! It’s definitely getting me hyped, even though it’s not a full confirmation yet.

Is Uncharted 5 Finally Coming?

A Reddit user recently shared a discovery from the ResetEra forums: Naughty Dog’s creative director and writer, Shaun Escayg, posted a picture on Instagram of what appears to be a 17th-century Spanish cannon within a fort. He captioned the image simply with “research…” suggesting potential inspiration for a future project.

This detail is really interesting, and the location strongly resembles areas we explored in the Uncharted games. Considering Escayg’s past work on the series, and the fact that the studio is already developing a new single-player game, it makes a strong argument for a potential return to the Uncharted franchise.

People were very enthusiastic in the comments section. One user wrote, “Thank goodness! I was really hoping they’d return to The Last of Us – it’s been a while – but Uncharted would have been a good choice too.”

One person commented that they’re happy to see more content from the Uncharted series, as long as it maintains its high quality. They said it’s a franchise you can’t really get tired of when it’s done well.

Someone else commented that they didn’t mind being one of the few who felt this way, but they really wanted the next game to focus on Cassie Drake, and they’re hoping Kaitlyn Dever will reprise her role!

Will Nathan Drake Be The Star?

Even though fans might hope for another game starring Nathan Drake, if Naughty Dog does make a new Uncharted title, it will probably focus on a different protagonist. A sequel to 2017’s Lost Legacy seems likely, especially since the developers probably want to respect the satisfying conclusion of the fourth game and avoid retconning it.
