Enjoying family movie nights just got even more delightful due to Hulu. The streamer, owned by Disney, offers a vast collection of child-friendly content perfect for family viewing. You’ll find timeless favorites such as Garfield, Cheaper by the Dozen, and The Sandlot along with newer hits like Lyle, Lyle Crocodile and Sonic the Hedgehog 2. This September, Hulu is expanding its offerings further with the addition of a family movie trilogy that has been underrated but is truly loved by all, and it’s available to stream ahead of an upcoming reboot!
Hulu subscribers now have the opportunity to stream almost all movies from the Night at the Museum franchise, starting with the first three films: Night at the Museum (2006), Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009), and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (2014). These titles became available on Hulu as of September 1st. However, the fourth sequel, the animated movie Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again from 2022, is exclusively streamable on Disney+. The original trilogy revolves around Ben Stiller’s character, Larry, a divorced father who becomes the night security guard at New York City’s American Museum of Natural History. Unbeknownst to him, he stumbles upon an Egyptian curse that brings the museum’s exhibits to life.
Why You Should Watch The Night At The Museum Film Series
In the broader landscape of children’s movies, filled with popular titles such as Shrek, Harry Potter, and Matilda, the Night at the Museum series often goes unnoticed yet deserves more recognition. These films offer an enjoyable experience for all age groups by exploring the intriguing aspects of museums and children’s natural sense of wonder and creativity. Each movie presents a unique, entertaining, and educational tale filled with action, humor, and historical elements. Moreover, the cast boasts renowned actors like Robin Williams, Ricky Gervais, Owen Wilson, Amy Adams, Rami Malek, and Rebel Wilson, who add charm to their roles.
The initial “Night at the Museum” series, consisting of three movies, is currently available for streaming on Hulu. In July 2025, it was announced that Shawn Levy’s production company, 21 Laps Entertainment, started working on a new take or reboot of “Night at the Museum” for Disney’s 20th Century Studios. Tripper Clancy is set to write this new movie, which is said to center around a fresh set of characters in a different museum, although specific story details have yet to be revealed. Levy, Dan Levine, and Emily Morris are listed as producers, and casting decisions have not been announced yet.
