Bet you didn’t have this on your 2026 bingo card, huh?
Gameplay Group is creating a new fighting game for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 based on the popular animated shows Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. The game will feature head-to-head battles.
(Yes, Sony’s last-gen system is still getting new releases!)
Here’s what the official blurb says about the game:

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is a fighting game that captures the essence of bending the elements. It’s made for both people new to fighting games and experienced players, offering a familiar feel with fresh ideas in how characters move, look, and fight. The game prioritizes smooth controls, quick reactions, and a solid online experience, encouraging players to find meaning in every battle. Visually, it’s designed in a hand-drawn 2D style to match the look and feel of the original Avatar series.
The trailer looks great, and the animation style really captures the feel of the original Nickelodeon series. However, the backgrounds feel a bit too simple and could benefit from more detail.
The complete game will launch with 12 characters you can play as, and even more will be added later through a Season Pass. You can also choose support characters to customize your fighting style and tactics.
The game will feature a complete single-player story mode, and the developers are prioritizing excellent online play with crossplay support, recognizing what players expect from modern fighting games.
While Avatar: The Last Airbender isn’t a favorite of ours, we’re always excited about new fighting games.
