Hidden among the usual Nintendo Direct September 2025 lineup, including Zelda and Donkey Kong, was an unexpected reveal – a trailer for Resident Evil Requiem, which is destined for the Switch 2. Furthermore, on the same day of its launch on February 27, 2026, two special editions of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village will also be available on the Switch 2.
The trailer for Resident Evil: Requiem Switch 2 (available below), also launched on PC simultaneously by developer Capcom, starts off with a phone ringing in an empty darkness. FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft listens to the call, briefly puzzled when it disconnects prematurely.
It appears as if the deceased investigative journalist, Alyssa Ashcroft (who made her first appearance in the 2003 multiplayer version of Resident Evil Outbreak), is still lingering around in a ghost-like manner, intermittently materializing and disappearing.
It seems that either Alyssa herself or a ghost resembling her subtly urges Grace to delve into the mysterious deaths reported by a police officer at the very hotel where her mother met her end. However, there’s another man keeping an eye on Grace as well, and his motives towards her aren’t kind.
In the trailer for Switch 2, it emphasizes that Requiem appears visually stunning. The grand ballrooms of the survival horror game seem elegantly white, while the grime that clings to their furniture carries an ominous darkness – a hint of evil. However, this Nintendo Direct trailer appears to primarily consist of cutscenes.
On the Nintendo Switch 2, the cinematics in the Golden Editions of Resident Evil 7 and Village appear even more vibrant. I have no doubts that this version will offer one of the most definitive portrayals of the towering vampire Lady Dimitrescu. The intricate details of these monstrous creatures become especially important before they take your life, as seen in the game.
