A new trailer for the upcoming episode of Chicago Fire (season 14, episode 11) hints at the return of a beloved character, which is sure to cause some trouble for Firehouse 51. The Chicago Fire universe often sees characters come and go, but Firehouse 51 has experienced a lot of changes recently, losing several key team members like Chief Boden and Matt Casey.
Before the start of Chicago Fire season 14, it was revealed that Firehouse 51 would lose two regular firefighters, even though the end of season 13 didn’t hint at anyone leaving. Daniel Kyri returned to finish his role as Darren Ritter, with the possibility of returning later. However, Jake Lockett’s departure was simply stated, without any specific storyline leading up to it.
The trailer for Chicago Fire season 14, episode 11 (available on TVPromos/YouTube) shows Sam Carver coming back. While it’s not yet clear why he’s returned, Violet is clearly happy to see him. However, things get complicated quickly, as Vasquez’s presence creates a love triangle between them. You can watch the trailer here:
Okay, so as a big Chicago Fire fan, I was really rooting for Sam and Violet! After seasons of tension and near misses, they finally admitted they had feelings for each other. But then, the news came that Lockett, who plays Violet, was leaving the show, which left everyone wondering what would happen to their relationship. When the show came back for a new season, it turned out Sam actually went through with his move to Denver, which was a total heartbreak!
The decision to split up Sam and Violet remains a controversial topic among fans of Chicago Fire. Many viewers are confused about why Lockett’s character was removed, especially after the show invested so much time developing him and his potential storylines, including his relationship with Violet. Now, Chicago Fire is introducing a new love interest for Violet, Vasquez, which feels like a familiar pattern. However, Sam’s eventual return should hopefully provide a satisfying conclusion to his story arc.
At the very least, Chicago Fire is giving Sam a proper send-off, which is preferable to simply having him disappear. However, bringing him back only to portray him as a villain could create more criticism about how the show has developed his character. Hopefully, the show can find a way to conclude his story without making him seem like a bad guy.
