DRAMA Studio, the team creating the realistic bodycam shooter game Unrecord, has announced that the game is now fully funded. They shared the news on social media, confirming investors have come on board, and released a new screenshot to celebrate.
When we released the game’s trailer in 2023, we were a small team – just two programmers with no prior industry experience. The game itself was only six months old at that point, but it quickly became much more successful than we ever imagined. We started with very little money, working long hours and managing all aspects of the project ourselves. Now, two years later, our team has grown to ten developers, and we’re still looking to expand!
We’re excited to share that we’ve secured the funding needed to create Unrecord and deliver the high-quality game we envision. We’re incredibly grateful to our investors, who believed in our vision after playing the game.
With this new funding, the studio is now completely dedicated to making the game and plans to regularly share progress updates throughout 2026. According to the team at DRAMA, these updates will showcase the final, complete version of their vision for the game.
Tencent has invested in DRAMA and taken a small ownership share. DRAMA’s CEO and founder, Theo Hiribarne, expressed his excitement about the partnership, saying Tencent shares their passion for the game and understands their goals. He also highlighted the team’s dedication to creating a game that players will love.
After our first trailer generated a lot of excitement, we’ve been working incredibly hard to create a game that lives up to what our players are hoping for, according to GamesIndustry.biz.
We were thrilled to partner with Tencent. They’re not only a leading company, but the team truly loves our game and shares our vision. Despite their size, they’ve been incredibly respectful, humble, and supportive of our creative ideas. They believed in Unrecord from the beginning and have helped us grow every step of the way. We’re certain this partnership will allow us to achieve everything we’re capable of.
Mark Maslowicz, VP of Partnerships at Tencent Games Europe, shared that Tencent is looking to support talented creators and has been very pleased with the development of the game Unrecord since its initial announcement in 2023.
Tencent is a strong supporter of creative developers. They’ve been consistently impressed by Drama Studios’ energy and accomplishments on the game Unrecord, particularly considering the team’s size and limited resources. This investment is intended to help Drama Studios reach its full potential and create the first of many successful games. Tencent is thrilled to be working with Drama Studios as they grow.
The initial trailer for the 2023 game Unrecord gained a lot of attention because of its impressive graphics. However, this focus on visual quality led to accusations that the studio, DRAMA, had created the trailer using actual filmed footage instead of in-game graphics. DRAMA responded with a statement, and co-director Alexandre Spindler demonstrated the trailer being developed within Unreal Engine 5.
So, I’m really hyped for Unrecord, but there’s no release date yet. The good news is the game is fully funded now, so I’m expecting we’ll start hearing more about it pretty soon – hopefully some gameplay details or a trailer!
We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve secured funding! Back in 2023, when we first showed the game’s trailer, we were just two developers working from home with no prior industry experience. The game itself was only six months old at that point, but it was already performing far beyond what we’d hoped. We started with very little money, and we worked tirelessly, putting in long nights to build everything from the ground up…
