Unreleased Doctor Who soundtrack from Peter Capaldi era finally gets release date confirmed after years of fans waiting

After years of anticipation, the release date for the Doctor Who season 10 soundtrack has been announced.

The music from season 10 of the show, which originally aired eight years ago with Peter Capaldi as the Doctor and Pearl Mackie as his companion Bill, was never officially released as a soundtrack.

The official soundtrack for season 10 will be released on CD and digitally on December 12th.

The announcement was made on the official Doctor Who Instagram page. It featured a picture of actors Peter Capaldi, John Barrowman, and Matt Lucas (as Nardole) filming, along with a quote from Capaldi’s character in the Doctor Who episode, ‘The Eaters of Light’.

Murray Gold, who has been the composer for Doctor Who since it returned in 2005, created the music for Season 10 in 2017.

Official soundtracks have been released for nine of the ten seasons he worked on. The tenth season was the only exception, but a soundtrack for it is coming out soon, which will finally complete fans’ collections.

Gold recently explained that making the scores publicly available has become more challenging. Speaking at a Doctor Who event hosted by the BFI, he admitted that the sheer volume of music involved – a situation he jokingly takes responsibility for – has made the process more complex than originally anticipated.

He continued: “The plan is to get it all out in one big music dump. It’s coming. It is coming.”
