Unsurprisingly, Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Is a Massive Hit in Japan

Japan is famously a huge fan of the Dragon Quest series, and the latest installment is continuing that trend.

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined dominated physical game sales last week, easily becoming the best-selling title. Different versions for various platforms swept the top three spots on the sales chart, with a total of 456,552 units sold, according to Famitsu estimates (via Gematsu).

This figure doesn’t include digital sales.

Okay, so after Dragon Quest VII, Nioh 3 was the next best seller, but it only sold about 40,570 physical copies – way less than DQ7! It’s a bit unfair to compare them directly since Nioh 3 is only on one platform, but honestly, it’s tough for any game to compete with how well Dragon Quest games do. Square Enix really knows how to make a hit RPG!

Okay, so looking at hardware sales, the PS5 – including the new PS5 Pro – has actually beaten out the Switch this time around. But, the Switch 2 is still doing incredibly well and keeps topping the charts, which is awesome to see!
