Until Dawn Remake: How to Ensure Everyone Survives

Until Dawn Remake: How to Ensure Everyone Survives

As a seasoned survivor of many a horror game, let me guide you through the twisted trails of Hidden Creek Lodge, where every choice matters and every second counts. In the remake of Until Dawn, I’ve learned that the key to keeping all characters alive lies not just in quick reflexes but also in strategic thinking.

The 2015’s “Until Dawn” reboot arrives, boasting updated visuals, cinematography, controls, and multiple ending scenarios. This horror-adventure game puts you in control of one of eight characters as they strive to endure until dawn. Though most often meet their grisly demise during a typical playthrough, it is feasible for all of them to make it through unscathed. Achieving this outcome earns you the ‘They All Live’ gold Trophy or Achievement.

This Until Dawn Remake guide outlines what actions to perform in order to survive as every character on a chapter by chapter basis.

Joshua’s Therapy Sessions

In the remake of Until Dawn, instead of transforming into a Wendigo, Joshua lives on as a human character. This happens when you choose certain responses during his therapy sessions with Dr. Hill. To achieve this ‘good’ ending, you must locate Hannah’s Journal as Sam and then help Mike rescue Josh. This final step completes the puzzle for this specific outcome.

Session 1

  • I feel uneasy
  • I’m not sure
  • It’s in the house
  • It’s alive
  • It’s not human

Session 2

  • Men worry me
  • Crowds scare me
  • I fear drowning
  • Snakes scare me
  • Guns are scary
  • Snakes scare me
  • Clowns scare me
  • Gore disgusts me
  • Snakes scare me
  • Gore disgusts me
  • Clowns scare me
  • Gore disgusts me
  • Gore disgusts me

Session 3

  • Yes, I do
  • I value honesty
  • I value charity

Session 4

  • I prefer Sam
  • I prefer Emily
  • I prefer Chris
  • I prefer Jessica
  • I prefer Matt
  • I prefer Ashley
  • I dislike Josh

Session 5

  • No, it’s not
  • Who are you?
  • You’re freaking me out
  • You’re real

In the therapy sessions mentioned, the proposed solutions will make it possible to identify the particular choices in:

Session 8

  • They hurt me
  • I’m so sorry

Chapter 1

Instead of peeking inside Chris’s backpack, where a phone was visibly vibrating, Sam decided to seal it shut, preferring not to pry further.

During Chris’s shooting segment, fire at the hanging sack target rather than the live squirrel.

Instead of leading Matt astray, I’d rather guide him toward using those binoculars for a clearer perspective.

During the snowball fight between Jess and Mike, refrain from targeting the bird with a snowball. Instead, follow the onscreen advice: ‘At times, doing nothing can be the best action.’ After a short pause, the bird should take flight, alleviating your time-bound predicament.

Chapter 2

At the lodge, Matt would be wise to avoid any physical altercations with Mike when they discuss the incident involving him and Emily, which Matt had observed earlier using binoculars.

Instead, Matt might decide to take Emily’s side during her disagreement with Jess at a later time.

Instead of standing idly by when Jess finds herself stuck in the mineshaft, let me be the one to leap down to her rescue.

Ask Sam to grab the baseball bat that’s to his right when he’s hanging out with Josh, making it sound like a casual, amusing request, such as “Hey Sam, could you mind fetching the hot corner defender over there while we chat with Josh?

Chapter 3

In this extended interaction between Mike and Jess, choose every good approach presented:

  • Do not scare her
  • Comfort the deer
  • Help Jessica
  • Light the fire early

Chapter 4

Starting from Chapter 4, certain characters may be removed from the story, with Jess being the first. To guarantee that Jess makes it through safely, as Mike, you’ll need to skillfully navigate and complete the Quick Time Events (QTEs) on the challenging pathway.

  • Risk Shortcut
  • Jump Down
  • The duck and hop sequence
  • Jump
  • Risk Slide Down

Gather your lantern and make your way through the mine tunnel. Your journey will be a success if you locate an intact Jess within the mine lift.

In the dilemma presented to Chris, choose to save Ashley over Josh.

Chapter 5

As Mike discovers the mechanical arm, he’d be wise to keep his distance and move along instead. When the wolf surprises Mike, resist the urge to react impulsively by kicking him within the time frame. Instead, try to establish trust with this top predator by cautiously approaching it. Remember, hang on to your machete; you might need it during quick-time events later.

Matt must disagree with Emily on the subject of the radio, even though they end up going anyway.

Sam ought to hurl the vase at the menacing individual, swiftly leap, clear the quick-time event (QTE) on the staircase, and conceal herself. This action will create another QTE opportunity for her to grab the baseball bat from earlier, which she can then use for self-defense.

Force the door, and latch it properly. Opt to hide this time, and successfully Don’t Move.

Chapter 6

In a situation where an elk herd approaches, Matt needs to soothe Emily and stay focused on the elks rather than the timer, ensuring their survival. If Matt attempts to attack the herd, he risks falling off a precipice. Making it through this ordeal means successfully completing every quick-time event (QTE) to help him climb back up.

As a gamer, I’d put it this way: “Next up, my journey through the Clifftop tower will lead me to some crucial steps for keeping Matt alive later. I’ll be venturing deep into the tower, and if things go as planned, I should stumble upon an emergency flare gun box. Once found, I’ll pass this flare gun onto Matt, who initially wasn’t too keen on this adventure.

As the tower burns, be supportive and concerned as Matt while Emily dangles off of the edge.

In two instances, saving Emily afforded Matt the chance to employ the flare gun as a means of self-rescue. His survival hinges entirely on achieving success in this ordeal.

Following the shocking appearance of the Wendigo, Ashley will need to retrieve the scissors located beneath the catalog of industrial light bulbs when instructed.

I’d be wise to stick with Chris and venture through that hefty door rather than straying off alone, chasing after who I perceive as Sam.

Have Ashley use the scissors from earlier on the Psycho, after he neutralizes Chris.

Ultimately, Chris has the chance to avoid his own demise at a future point, by choosing not to fire at anyone in the situation where he must navigate a buzzsaw and handle a gun.

Chapter 7

During Emily’s gauntlet, do not attempt to light the oil on fire.

Chris should opt to disarm Mike, rather than hit Josh.

Chapter 8

Emily is currently facing a sequence of Quick Time Events (QTEs), some of which are lethal and others harmless. Failing the QTEs before the elevator has no repercussions, but succeeding means skipping the “Don’t Move” segment at the end of the ride entirely.

In the upcoming sequence of Quick Time Events (QTEs), Emily’s life hangs in the balance with only two misses allowed. To drop the rocks, pull hard on the chain, and tip the barrels. As soon as you reach the conveyor belt, jump off immediately to dodge any additional dangerous QTEs.

Do not worry about being bitten by the Wendigo. None of the QTEs after this point are fatal.

Chris is dashing back to the lodge to finish his hunting tasks. Instead of aiming for the explosive traps, try hitting the Wendigo directly. Since you saved Ashley before, doing so ensures your own safety now.

Mike will aim his gun at Emily, but refrain from pulling the trigger as the timer winds down.

Chapter 9

To rescue Wolfie, Mike must ensure he doesn’t miss over two Quick Time Events (QTEs). Having retained the machete from earlier provides an additional chance. Start by shooting the noisy item to initiate.

Run straight ahead when prompted.

Catch the rolling bottle before it hits the ground.

As the Wendigos close in, push the metal barrel forward instead, then explode it with a gunshot when they’re near.

Make certain to secure the door using the locker located at the end, so that Wolfie can safely avoid the pursuing Wendigo.

Refrain from shooting the drums this time, opting to always target a Wendigo instead.

As Ashley, reassure Chris and do not leave him behind.

Ahead lies a path where it’s best to avoid anything resembling Jess’s voice. Should you listen, refrain from opening the trapdoor latch, for it would unleash the Wendigo. This action ensures Chris’s safety.

Chapter 10

As Sam and Mike navigate their way through the subterranean waterway, guide Sam to move apart from Mike towards the waterwheel’s left side. Ensure he retrieves the final clue, the Ink-stained Journal, to explore all prospects concerning Josh’s wellbeing.

From now on, Sam and Mike can go back to helping Josh escape his psychotic hallucinations. If Hannah follows behind them, and if the therapy session responses are accurate, then Josh should be able to endure this crisis while maintaining his human identity.

After incorrectly answering during therapy sessions and later reading the Illegible Diary, the outcome for Josh may be slightly less favorable, turning him into a Wendigo. However, this modified ending still suits the objective of winning the ‘They All Live’ trophy marked with gold.

Matt and Jess should stay concealed at all times and under no circumstances flee. It’s crucial for Matt to protect Jess from fainting, thus ensuring they both evade the Wendigo’s lethal attack. By hiding together, they can successfully complete the Don’t Move challenge, which will ensure that both Matt and Jess reach the end safely.

After everyone in the group has regrouped at the lodge, it is Sam’s actions that will decide between life and death. Should there be any mishaps, they can be corrected by resorting to a save, which takes you back to when Sam enters the lodge.

1) Stay with Mike and the team. For everyone to survive, each “Don’t Move” operation needs to go smoothly. Once we’ve completed the first two, Mike will shatter the light bulb, then Chris will exit the lodge.

Sam prioritizes saving Mike above all else, ensuring that neither Emily nor Ashley meet a fatal end. Consequently, Emily manages to safely exit the lodge.

After the following “Don’t Move” command, opt for concealment instead of engaging the switch. In this scenario, Ashley will successfully escape through the door alive.

Don’t Move once more, and continue to hide, as Mike leaves.

If Sam doesn’t make another move, he’ll eventually depart from the lodge, which in turn will activate the switch as he exits.

To guarantee that all characters in the remake of “Until Dawn” survive until the end and achieve the ‘They All Live’ gold Trophy, you need to follow the correct decisions and actions throughout the game.
