Upcoming Romance TV Show Is Perfect For Luke & Lorelai Fans

Fans of the show Gilmore Girls, especially those who loved the romance between Luke and Lorelai, will likely enjoy a new TV series coming soon. Based on a popular book, the show promises a similar heartwarming and romantic feel. Gilmore Girls itself, which premiered in 2000, quickly became a beloved show known for its charming characters and relatable relationships.

It’s up for debate who Rory’s best boyfriend was, but most fans agree that Luke and Lorelai were perfect for each other. Like any couple, they had their issues, particularly with communication. However, they always had each other’s backs and were quick to forgive mistakes.

Okay, so Lorelai and Luke weren’t perfect, they had their issues, but honestly, they just fit – it really felt like destiny brought them together. And as a huge fan, I’m so excited about this new show coming out! It’s got a character totally inspired by Lorelai, and a couple that reminds me so much of her and Luke – it’s going to be amazing!

Prime Video Is Adapting Things We Never Got Over

As a big fan of romance, I’ve been following Things We Never Got Over, and it’s exploded in popularity! It’s been topping the New York Times bestseller list and is super popular on Kindle Unlimited, so it feels inevitable that we’ll see it as a movie or series soon. The story centers around Naomi Witt, who makes a pretty drastic escape – she ditches her wedding and her family – both to start a new life for herself and to help her twin sister.

When Naomi arrives in Knockemout, her twin sister unexpectedly steals her money and car, leaving her with a huge surprise: an eleven-year-old niece she never knew she had. Fortunately, she also meets a wealthy, but initially unfriendly, local business owner. Despite a rocky start, they gradually become close friends and eventually fall in love.

This heartwarming story about love, found family, personal growth, and community is getting a TV adaptation on Amazon MGM Studios (according to Deadline). Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder will be the showrunners and develop the series, based on Things We Never Got Over. Gina Girolamo will join the team as a co-executive producer.

If you enjoyed the book and are a Gilmore Girls fan, especially if you loved Lorelai and Luke’s romance, you’ll likely enjoy this Prime Video show.

Things We Never Got Over’s Naomi Witt Has A Young Lorelai-eque Storyline

Naomi escapes her planned life and fiancé, finding herself in the charming small town of Knockemout, reminiscent of Stars Hollow. She’s unexpectedly thrust into parenthood, even though she doesn’t feel ready, and arrives with nothing – no home, friends, money, transportation, or any idea of what to do next.

She doesn’t have much family support, but the unusual people of Knockemout quickly offer help once they discover she’s not her sister. She quickly makes a lot of friends, and they become the family she needs.

Naomi, even though she’s in her thirties, often seems stuck in the mindset of a young adult, much like Lorelai. She’s known for her love of coffee and her quick, playful conversations. As soon as she arrives in town, she always heads straight for the coffee shop.

Naomi’s niece, Waylay, is just eleven, but she’s remarkably mature and responsible, often acting much older than her age. Naomi and Waylay become very close and share a warm, loving bond.

Naomi is now committed to giving her aunt the secure life she lacked, but it often feels like the roles are reversed, with Waylay providing just as much support as she receives – a relationship reminiscent of Rory and Lorelai’s in Gilmore Girls.

Naomi also encounters Knox, a gruff and initially unpleasant local business owner, and they immediately clash. He’s very guarded at first, but as the story unfolds, Knox begins to open up and reveal a more vulnerable side. He undergoes significant character development throughout the book.

Why Naomi & Knox Are Perfect For Luke & Lorelai Fans

If you enjoyed the relationship between Luke and Lorelai on Gilmore Girls, you’ll likely adore Naomi and Knox’s connection. Their romance follows a similar path, and they’re just as charming as a couple.

I always loved learning about Lorelai and Luke’s history! Apparently, they really didn’t hit it off at first – Lorelai actually used to deliberately tease Luke, even calling him ‘Duke’ just to get a rise out of him. But despite that rocky start, they built this amazing friendship. It was so sweet to see Luke become such a supportive father figure to Rory, really stepping up for her when she needed it.

This situation is similar to the dynamic between Naomi and Knox in Things We Never Got Over, but their story moves from dislike to friendship to love much faster. Unlike Luke and Lorelai, whose connection takes years to develop, Naomi and Knox frequently clash but still support each other. Knox offers Naomi a job and a place to stay, and consistently helps her and Waylay despite their arguments.

Naomi and Knox share a similar playful and contrasting relationship as Luke and Lorelai. Both Lorelai and Naomi are quick-witted, energetic, and tend to flit between different subjects. However, Luke and Knox provide a steadying presence, keeping things realistic. Like Luke and Lorelai, Naomi and Knox constantly tease each other, and they also face challenges in their relationship, just like the other couple.

Naomi and Knox end up with a connection as strong and heartwarming as Luke and Lorelai’s. They truly bring out the best in each other, making you feel like they were meant to be. If the show just softened Knox’s personality a little, Things We Never Got Over would be a dream come true for fans of the Luke and Lorelai romance from Gilmore Girls.
