As anime and manga become increasingly popular, hundreds of new anime shows debut each year, and those based on Shonen Jump titles often generate a lot of buzz. One upcoming series, Kindergarten Wars, was announced to be adapted into an anime last year, but details were scarce. This weekend’s AnimeJapan 2026 event revealed more about the show, which is an exciting action comedy.
AnimeJapan is a huge anime and manga convention, known for bringing together studios and companies to share exciting news. This year’s event in Tokyo featured over 120 exhibitors, including industry giants like Aniplex, KADOKAWA, Bandai Namco Filmworks, and TOHO animation. Fans worldwide eagerly await AnimeJapan because it’s where major announcements about current and upcoming anime series are often made, and this year included updates on shows like Kindergarten Wars.
When Is Kindergarten Wars Coming Out?
While an exact date isn’t available yet, the anime is scheduled to premiere in Spring 2027. Based on typical release patterns, it will likely arrive in either the first or second week of April. A new trailer and additional details about the series have also been revealed, giving fans a sneak peek at what’s to come.
The new anime is a joint project between animation studios Sunrise and Felix Film. Shinsuke Gomi, who previously worked on popular titles like Demon Slayer: Mugen Train and the Fate series, will direct. The main voice cast has also been announced, featuring Atsumi Tanezaki as Rita, Kentaro Kumagai as Doug, Hitomi Ohwada as Hana, Satoshi Hino as Luke, and Mariya Ise as Silvia.
What Is Kindergarten Wars About?
I’m totally hooked on this series! It’s hilarious – seriously, it doesn’t hold back on the jokes and slapstick. What I really love are the characters; they’re all so endearing, but they’re dealing with their own stuff too. The story revolves around the staff and students at Kindergarten Noir, which is supposedly the safest kindergarten ever – it’s where all the kids of super-rich and famous people go. The funny thing is, because their parents are so important, these kids are constantly being targeted by assassins! But don’t worry, the teachers are incredibly capable and always manage to keep them safe. It’s a wild ride!
Rita is incredibly talented at her job, but she’s struggling to find a boyfriend while working as a kindergarten teacher. Her quest for the right partner leads to funny and chaotic moments, even when things get tricky. The manga, created by You Chiba, began its final storyline in January of last year, and the details of its ending are still a mystery.
