According to Arkham’s data, the US government is among the world’s leading cryptocurrency owners, joining countries such as the UK and Germany in this ranking.
Arkham, a company specializing in cryptocurrency intelligence, unveiled a new dashboard highlighting governments with significant crypto assets.
On April 12, Arkham revealed that the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany rank among the top countries with significant cryptocurrency holdings.
Using the latest Arkham monitoring system, users have the ability to view up-to-the-minute information on the cryptocurrency holdings and transactions of various governments.
Based on the information provided by Arkham, the U.S. government is currently the largest known holder of Bitcoin among global governments, with approximately 212,847 Bitcoins (equivalent to around $15 billion at present values).
At present, the U.K. government holds approximately 61,245 Bitcoins, valued around $4.5 billion based on current market prices, as indicated by Arkham’s data. Simultaneously, the German government possesses roughly 49,858 Bitcoins, equivalent to approximately $3.5 billion according to the same source.
In simple terms, El Salvador’s government owns fewer bitcoins than many other countries monitored by Arkham. (September 2021 was when El Salvador became the first nation to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender.)
Based on available information, the Salvadoran government owns approximately 5,717 Bitcoins, which translates to around $405 million in value as of now.
This is a developing story, and further information will be added as it becomes available.
