Valerie Bertinelli Says She Lost Job as Spokesperson After Weight Gain

Valerie Bertinelli is reflecting on a painful memory.

A lifestyle correspondent from The Drew Barrymore Show recently shared how she lost her job as a spokesperson for a weight loss company after she gained weight.

Valerie, 65, told Drew Barrymore on a recent talk show that she was shocked when she saw a photo from her 2012 Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. She explained that she had lost 50 pounds after starting a diet program and becoming its spokesperson in 2007.

Valerie explained that her weight going up and down prevented her from continuing to work with the diet company.

Valerie explained that things had become overwhelming. She hadn’t been prioritizing her well-being, and as a result, she began to regain weight.

The former Days of Our Lives star revealed that she received her Hollywood Walk of Fame star around the same time she ended her partnership with the diet company.

Valerie explained that this was the last year she worked for the diet company. She was let go because they told her they couldn’t continue working with her as she had started gaining weight again.

Valerie remembered the lace dress she wore for the occasion, and how she’d initially thought a size 12 wasn’t large. However, she’d later shrunk to a size four, which was much too small and unsustainable for her to keep up with.

Even though it still stings to think about it, I’ve noticed Valerie seems so much more at peace with herself these days. She’s really grown into who she is, and it’s amazing to see how comfortable she’s become in her own skin.

She explained that her weight has fluctuated throughout her life, but she’s currently at a weight she’s generally maintained. While she would have been very upset about being a size 10 while on a diet in the past, she now prioritizes her mental and emotional wellbeing.

Despite the painful journey it took to get there, Valerie shared that she’s never felt better.

Despite feeling emotional, I’m incredibly strong mentally and emotionally right now. I’m really confident in who I am, and my weight doesn’t define me. What truly matters is my character and how I treat others – that’s all that counts.

The Bravo host detailed his health and fitness journey using an Ozempic-like drug.

During a September 2025 episode of his SiriusXM radio show, Andy Cohen Live, the 57-year-old revealed he’d lost a significant amount of weight over the summer by using a GLP-1 medication. He explained he’d been unhappy with his weight and, after discussing it with his doctor last year, decided to try a GLP-1. The medication was recommended not just for weight loss, but also to help with plaque buildup in his arteries and high blood pressure, offering broader health benefits. He ultimately decided it was the right step for him.

Honestly, it made a huge difference for me when I was battling cravings – and I was really struggling with them. It gave me the boost I needed to get disciplined with my eating and exercise, and actually stick to my plan.

The singer shared in November 2024 that he had lost 120 pounds.

Jelly Roll explained he shared his personal challenges openly, specifically on his wife Bunnie XO’s podcast, Dumb Blonde, because he wants to be honest with people about his difficulties.

He explained that his success wasn’t because of his weight, but rather despite it. He wanted everyone to understand that he overcame that challenge to achieve his goals.

The talk show host has been feeling healthier lately and has lost weight. She recently learned she was pre-diabetic, which motivated her to follow her doctor’s advice – something she hadn’t done consistently for a couple of years. She told People magazine that she sticks to a high-protein diet most of the time, which benefits her overall health anyway.

She is a Texas girlie after all, “so I like meat—sorry, vegetarians in the world!”

The mother of River and Remington is settling into her new life in New York City and enjoying the change of pace. She joked that walking around the city is great exercise, and she’s been focusing on wellness, recently getting into infrared saunas and even a cold plunge after a lot of encouragement from others.

The popular weight loss drug wasn’t part of her plan. She explained on The Kelly Clarkson Show in May 2024 that her doctor had been encouraging her to try it for two years, but she was hesitant, especially because of existing thyroid issues. While many assume it was Ozempic, she clarified that she’s taking a different medication – one that helps her body process sugar more effectively.

Everyone’s getting health advice from a media icon who’s feeling fantastic! She shared her secrets with Entertainment Tonight, explaining that it’s not just one thing that keeps her healthy—it’s a combination of things, including treadmill workouts, hiking, drinking plenty of water, and eating nutritious foods.

Oprah Winfrey recently shared that she’s using a weight loss medication, though she hasn’t revealed which one. In an interview with People magazine, she described it as a welcome relief, a chance to finally address her weight without shame, and a gift she’s grateful for. She emphasized that she’s finished with both external criticism and self-shaming.

The HGTV personality demonstrated a remarkable life change by sharing details of his two-year fitness journey in an Instagram post from July 2023.

He explained that sometimes what feels right isn’t actually what you need to improve. While he used to do hot yoga with his wife, Heather Rae El Moussa, he realized he wasn’t following a consistent fitness plan, monitoring his diet, or getting professional advice.

Nutritionist Sean Torbati emphasizes the importance of both diet and exercise for overall well-being. The father of three shared that he focuses on eating healthy and doing hot yoga once or twice a week, which he finds beneficial for both his mental and physical health. He believes that staying motivated and persistent are key to success.

He had a turning point when he truly understood how much he desired to feel good and be healthy – not just for himself, but for his family and his future. That’s when he fully committed and started working towards it!

The cohost of The View shared that she used Mounjaro, a medication for type 2 diabetes, to lose weight after gaining weight in 2021.

She revealed on a recent talk show that she weighed close to 300 pounds while filming Till. She explained that she had been using steroids and other substances, and that the weight loss medication Mounjaro has been a key part of her weight loss journey. “That’s what I use,” she stated.

The Grammy-winning artist is aware people noticed her impressive physical transformation, which she achieved through a combination of diet, exercise, and a weight loss medication containing GLP-1.

In a March 2025 Instagram post, she shared that she’s feeling fantastic after making significant changes to her lifestyle following her second pregnancy. These changes included working with a nutritionist, starting an exercise program with a trainer, and using medication (specifically mentioning Mounjaro) along with other support.

The reality star is confident in herself, regardless of what others think. She recently addressed rumors about weight loss, posting on Instagram in February, “I really don’t like talking about this, but I haven’t had any surgery or medical procedures to lose weight.”

Although she’s lost 100 pounds, bringing her weight down from 385 to 285, including 50 pounds after her mother, Barbara “Babs” Thore, passed away in December 2022, she’s been at 285 pounds for nearly a year.

Simply put, she said, “I appreciate the nice things you’ve said, but I’m not comfortable focusing on bodies – my own or anyone else’s.”

The actress, knowing she’s considered attractive no matter where she goes, recently shared her thoughts on body image in an Instagram post last February.

I saw this old photo of myself from 2014, and it reminded me of how much things have changed. I’m 5’4″ and at the time, I weighed 150 pounds. Honestly, I stopped weighing myself a long time ago. It’s ridiculous to let someone else’s definition of ‘overweight’ bother you, and I fell for that nonsense for way too long. It just doesn’t matter to me anymore.

Free from the stress of dieting, she realized she was a kind, funny, and thoughtful person. She emphasized that your personality and character are far more important than your size or weight, and that you are valuable exactly as you are.

As for anyone that might not agree, she summed up, “F–k ‘em.”

The musician says he feels fantastic and like a rockstar after losing 55 pounds. In an Instagram post from April 2023, he admitted people have been asking about his weight loss and how it affects his performances. He shared that he’s really enjoying performing and feels healthier than ever.

He explained that becoming a father in 2022 was a major source of motivation. He decided to give up soda and improve his diet, wanting to be healthy and live a long life for his daughter. He plans to quit smoking and cut back on alcohol next, but says he’s taking things one step at a time.

She admitted feeling a lot of pressure to lose weight after giving birth to her son, Sidney, in November 2022. She told TopMob News that losing 85 pounds became her main focus. “I was so focused on it because I just wanted to avoid people talking about my body,” she explained.

She’s not suggesting everyone follow her intense method, but she’s pleased with her outcome. “It took a lot of effort, and honestly, it wasn’t fun,” she explained. “I was constantly hungry, but it was worth it in the end.”

The actor, known for his role on Roseanne, has experienced many ups and downs with his health. He used to drastically lose weight for a few months, then fall back into unhealthy habits, admitting in 2017, “I’d lose 60 or 70 pounds and then reward myself with junk food.” This time, however, he’s focused on a slower, more sustainable approach, prioritizing movement and exercise. He says he’s reached an age where staying active is essential.

He’s kept off 200 pounds by focusing on a healthy lifestyle: plenty of walking and a diet inspired by the Mediterranean, with lots of fish, vegetables, and nuts. As he told Men’s Health, it’s an ongoing commitment, but one he happily embraces.

Following a type 2 diabetes diagnosis and the loss of his father and brother to heart attacks, the host of The Price Is Right decided to improve his diet and focus on healthy eating.

He told Entertainment Tonight his secret to staying in shape was cutting out all carbohydrates. He explained that he avoids everything from bread and pizza to corn and beans, and even limits starches. His typical breakfast includes egg whites or Greek yogurt with a small amount of fruit. He admits to occasionally indulging, but generally sticks to a completely carb-free diet.

And to wash it all down, “I don’t drink anything but water,” he said. “No coffee, no tea, no soda.”

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always thrilled to see people achieve incredible transformations, and let me tell you, the journey of the 1000-lb Sisters star has been truly inspiring! She’s lost an amazing 440 pounds, and it’s opened up a whole new world for her. We’ve been able to witness these incredible milestones on her show – things like finally being able to fly on a plane, buckle her seatbelt comfortably, and even enjoy rides at Disney World! It’s been wonderful to see her experience things like riding in the front seat of a car and soaring in a hot air balloon – moments many of us take for granted. It’s proof that hard work and dedication can truly change your life.

In a recent TikTok video, Slaton shared how much it means to her to be able to do everyday things like buckle a seatbelt without needing an extension. She explained that she hadn’t been able to manage simple tasks like this for years, and doesn’t take being able to do them for granted.

I’m really proud of what I’ve accomplished,” the reality star explained. “I finally lost the weight and I’m enjoying life – truly living it. It feels good to recognize my own success and be where I am now.”

The former Vanderpump Rules star is focusing on health and wellness. She’s back on the Jenny Craig plan and hoping to see progress, but she told TopMob News in February that her priority is being a good role model for her son. While losing weight would be great, she wants to demonstrate healthy habits for her and Jax Taylor’s son, Cruz, and focus on being the best version of herself for him.

The future star of The Valley explained, “I want to model a healthy lifestyle for him. Exercise is really important for both my physical and mental well-being, and I believe starting a positive, healthy routine is key for me.”

All her hard work and dedication to strength training has clearly paid off for the musician.

In a 2023 interview with People magazine, the star shared how proud they are of their progress. They explained that staying fit is now a key part of their daily life, and they’ve made a consistent effort to prioritize their health and exercise regularly.

As you guys know, I’ve been really focused on my fitness lately, and honestly, I’m thinking of launching a super intense workout program I’m calling ‘Hottie Bootcamp’! It’s not for the faint of heart – think a fast-paced mix of exercises like deadlifts, jump rope, lunges, and mountain climbers. Let me tell you, it’s a serious burn! I was filming a session the other day and even said it felt amazing, even though it was tough, and you can definitely see and feel the results – especially in your legs and glutes!

When the pandemic began in March 2020, just a few months after the former Pretty Little Liars star had her first daughter, Atlas, she admitted to TopMob News that she felt incredibly unmotivated. With everything suddenly stopping, she decided to just let go of trying.

She abandoned her workout routine and healthy eating habits, falling into a pattern of unhealthy food choices throughout 2020. This took a toll on her, and she longed to feel good about her body again.

She was excited but also a little doubtful when she heard about Openfit’s 4 Weeks of Focus program led by trainer Kelsey Heenan.

After consistently starting her day for a month with warm water and lemon, plus a 30-minute workout—which included a mix of cardio, HIIT, and strength training—she realized how much better she felt. She also focused on making healthier food choices, allowing herself treats while still incorporating nutritious ingredients. She was amazed by the results. ‘I couldn’t believe how strong I was getting,’ she said. ‘I’ve always been active, but I’d never lifted that much weight before!’

The fitness influencer, known online as Fat Girl Fed Up, recently shared on Instagram that she didn’t reach her weight loss goal of dropping below 200 pounds. However, she decided to focus on her progress and still had something to celebrate, proving she doesn’t let minor setbacks get her down.

She reminded herself that any step forward counts, even if it’s a small one. She acknowledged she’d put in a lot of effort this week, and found comfort in the fact that losing weight is a process – it didn’t happen quickly, so it won’t come off quickly either. She encouraged herself to persevere, regardless of the challenges.

She’s confident she can achieve her health goals. “I’m going to reach my ideal state,” she declared. “It might take a week or a year, but we’ll get there eventually. Just keep moving forward, trust yourself, and focus on making progress, not achieving perfection.”

The Queer Eye star was determined to improve their fitness to take on more challenging gymnastics moves, and they’ve really succeeded in their health and wellness efforts.

In an August 2022 TikTok video, they revealed they’d lost 35 pounds since starting to work with a nutritionist in April. They explained their motivation was to improve their physique for gymnastics and their career.

They did warn, though, not to expect immediate results. The author of Love That Story shared that it took three weeks before they noticed any difference. So, if you’re hoping to see a change, be prepared to commit to working out and eating differently for about three weeks before you start to see results.

Before turning thirty in 2022, the former Disney Channel star decided to start a new workout plan.

The actor, who is married to model Barbara Palvin, shared a story on Instagram about how he used to be self-conscious enough to wear a shirt while swimming as a child. He explained that this inspired him in his late twenties to focus on changing his physique and getting into shape. He jokingly referred to the post as his ‘meat head post’.

It was a tough workout, switching between weights and kettlebells, but he’s happy with how far he’s come and isn’t stopping anytime soon.

Everyone has ups and downs, and things don’t always go as planned. This became clear when the actress openly shared on Instagram in January 2024 that she had regained some weight – about 14 kilograms – after successfully reaching her goal of 75 kilograms in 2020.

Wilson admitted she’s been struggling to maintain her healthy habits due to a busy filming schedule. She’d previously shared how she overcame emotional eating and shifted to a diet focused on protein instead of carbs, but now finds it difficult to fit in her boxing and hiking workouts.

Wilson confessed that stress caused her to gain weight, which negatively impacted her self-esteem. She acknowledged it wasn’t rational, but admitted it still bothered her.

Giving up his favorite beers? Okay. And dedicating himself to intense daily workouts – P90X, kickboxing, and running – as he told Men’s Journal? No problem.

For Chris Pratt, the most challenging aspect of his 60-pound weight loss—going from his role as Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation to a superhero in Guardians of the Galaxy—was the massive amount of water he had to drink: one ounce for every pound he weighed daily.

“I was peeing all day long, every day,” he explained. “That part was a nightmare,”

Even before the news broke, Paul Rudd always seemed like a natural fit for a leading man role, you know? But honestly, when I heard he was going to be Ant-Man, I was still surprised! It’s a bit of a jump from his roles in Clueless, and I can see why a lot of fans were shocked too. He just always seemed like ‘kind of a Baldwin’ to me, but he totally pulled it off!

Paul Rudd has said that when he was cast in the movie, many people were surprised, reacting with something like, ‘Paul Rudd as a superhero? Is that really happening?’ He shared this with Variety magazine back in 2015.

He understood his task. He explained that he trained like Chris Pratt for an action role: he committed to a year of strict, joyless training so he could then convincingly play the hero.

After having her older children, the author of the Just Eat book returned to the South Beach Diet to help her feel like herself again. She told TopMob News that the high-protein plan worked quickly. “I started the program, I exercised, and I immediately felt better,” she said.

Before anything else, she’s savoring the time after giving birth. Decker, a mother to Vivianne, Eric Jr., Forrest, and Denver (born February 2024), emphasizes, “That should be the last thing on your mind.” She advises new mothers not to focus on weight loss immediately after having a baby. Instead, she encourages them to prioritize feeding and bonding with their newborn, allowing their body time to heal. “You’ll know when you’re ready,” she says. “Don’t let your mind pressure you to lose weight. You’ll naturally feel when you have the energy to be active again.”

Getting in shape for his role has been a great perk, including developing visible abs. He achieved this through 90-minute workouts and a healthier eating plan, focusing on lean protein, plenty of vegetables, and avoiding sugary drinks like soda, as he explained to People magazine.

What really motivates him is achieving his ambitious life goals, particularly those involving the outdoors. He’s determined to get in shape so he can climb challenging rock faces in Yosemite, and he dreams of hiking the entire Pacific Crest Trail – a long-distance route stretching from Mexico to Canada and back along the American coast.

After giving birth to her daughter Kingsley in September 2022, the actress, known for Twilight, realized her body had changed. In a January 2023 Instagram post, she explained she was coming to terms with this, saying she didn’t think her body would ever be exactly as it was before, and that was okay.

If she ever feels overwhelmed, she has a coping mechanism that’s just as valuable as getting back into her exercise routine after having a baby.

She told TopMob News that looking into her daughter’s eyes – whom she calls her ‘sweet angel’ – helps her feel grateful instead of focusing on her own flaws. She considers this a helpful trick, because it’s easy to be too hard on yourself, no matter what you do.
