After launching on PC in 2021 and Xbox in 2023, the popular game *Valheim* from Iron Gate Studio is coming to PS5 in 2026. A new trailer, featuring narration by Neil Newbon of *Baldur’s Gate 3*, gives a sneak peek at the game’s world and what players can look forward to.
Valheim takes place in a strange, Norse-inspired afterlife where defeated Vikings struggle to survive and defeat powerful enemies. The game’s narration hints that these creatures were around long before the Vikings, and future updates might reveal more about their history.
A key question for fans is whether the game *Valheim* will officially launch-moving beyond its current ‘early access’ state-at the same time as its release on the PlayStation 5. Over the past few years, *Valheim* has received significant updates and improvements, including major content additions like Hearth and Home, which enhanced building and food systems, and the expansive Mistlands and Ashlands updates, which introduced new landscapes, creatures, and gameplay features.
The latest update, Call to Arms, overhauled combat while adding even more content. Stay tuned for more details on other features in the coming months.
