Recently, Vanessa Kirby playfully revealed an amusing backstage moment with her co-star Pedro Pascal from the set of “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.” Looking back on their time filming promotional content together, Kirby endearingly referred to Pascal as a “quick-witted turtle.
Vanessa Kirby calls Pedro Pascal a ‘snappy turtle’ for a reason
In a recent conversation on The Spill podcast, Vanessa Kirby and Pedro Pascal discussed their work dynamics for the new Fantastic Four movie. When asked about an unexpected discovery they made about each other during filming, Kirby couldn’t help but chuckle, while Pascal admitted with a knowing smile, “Yes, I can be quite grumpy! But being grumpy doesn’t make me a bad person.
Kirby shared that Pascal, who usually keeps a cheerful demeanor, can become a bit irritable during extended workdays on set. She said, “He’s always smiling! But if we work past six in the evening and need overtime, he starts to get a little short-tempered or grumpy. However, after approximately an hour, he returns to his normal self.
I, as a movie buff, found myself delving into some intense promotional activities alongside Kirby and Joseph Quinn. We were filming all day long under the hot studio lights. Kirby and Quinn would often voice their exhaustion, which I could certainly relate to. As we both concurred, the situation would sometimes push my buttons. I admitted that seeing Kirby’s pregnancy, the entire production… it stirred something within me. It stirred a protective instinct in me, making me feel more invested and concerned than usual.
During the filming, Pascal noted a difference in approach between himself and Kirby & Quinn; while he aimed to finish things promptly, they preferred to delve deeper into various possibilities. In his own words, “They were always suggesting new ideas: ‘Let’s do it this way… Let’s do it that way.’
In response to Kirby’s comment about a transforming turtle, Pascal shared an anecdote where he was scolded by her. He recounted, “You told me, ‘Don’t act hasty with me!'” Kirby acknowledged the truth of the story and had another laugh.
