Although Vera’s fourteenth season aired almost a year ago, fans are still hoping for more episodes, and rumors about a potential new season keep appearing.
During an interview with Alison Hammond, actress Brenda Blethyn, known for her role as Vera, discussed the possibility of returning to play the detective in future episodes.
Brenda Blethyn, while appearing on ‘This Morning,’ suggested ‘Vera’ likely won’t return, explaining that the show’s set has been dismantled.
Someone recently asked if I’d ever consider revisiting that project, and honestly, I said absolutely! If a special occasion or reunion came up, I’d jump at the chance. But realistically, my schedule is just too packed right now to make it happen.
Imelda Staunton is currently very busy with several projects. She’s starring alongside Andrea Riseborough in the film Dragonfly, now playing in UK cinemas, and will soon appear in a new Channel 4 adaptation of A Woman of Substance.
Despite her reservations, fans will be happy to hear she hasn’t completely closed the door on returning to the role of Vera, though she doesn’t expect it to happen.
Brenda Blethyn shared that she was overcome with emotion on her last day filming ‘Vera,’ to the point where she was unable to speak through her tears.
She shared her thoughts while appearing on The One Show alongside David Suchet, who also reminisced about his final day filming Poirot.
He described the day as incredibly emotional. Filming the final scene and hearing ‘that’s a wrap’ suddenly made him realize 25 years of work had come to an end, which overwhelmed him with feeling.
After spending 25 years embodying a character, they truly become a part of who I am. I feel like I know them better than I know many real people.
Vera is available to watch on ITVX.
