Compile Heart just revealed the first trailer, details, and images for Villion: Code, a new school-based RPG created by Kouji Okada, who also helped develop the Megami Tensei and Persona series.
Here are the details:
■ Story

In the near future, humanity stands on the verge of extinction.
A peculiar event happened at Adhvan Resilience Research Academy City, a place built to prepare for an approaching disaster.
Terrifying creatures called GEMs start attacking people, and simultaneously, a strange bubble traps the entire city, cutting off all ways to escape.
In this closed and desperate situation, each person is forced to confront the “karma” they bear.
What is the truth behind the strange phenomenon surrounding the academy city—?
■ Characters
Protagonist (voiced by Kengo Kawanishi)
- Age: 17 (skipped a grade)
- 6th year student at Adhvan Resilience Academy School of Science and Engineering in the Life Sciences Department
- Member of the basketball team
I’m a huge fan of this character! He’s a really gifted young guy who was so smart they let him skip a grade at the academy. He lives in the Mano Dormitory with his close friends, and it’s cool to learn he’s related to Marika and best buddies with Sushiro. What really got me hooked is that he and his friends decided to team up – they call themselves “ADHVAN REBS” – to solve a mystery and catch whoever is responsible for something big!
Sushiro (voiced by Shunsuke Takeuchi)
- Age: 19 (enrolled one year late, and repeated a year)
- 5th year student at Adhvan Resilience Academy School of Science and Engineering in the Life Sciences Department
- Member of the basketball team
He’s a friendly, big-brother figure – the captain of the basketball team who always looks out for younger students. While he cares a lot, he can sometimes be a little overprotective, which his friends find a bit much. He and the main character are incredibly close, practically like brothers.
Anastasia (voiced by Aimi)
- Age: 18
- 6th year student at Adhvan Resilience Academy School of Science and Engineering in the Life Sciences Department
- Member of the cosplay club
This cosplayer is a popular anime fan with a large social media following. She’s clever and trusts her gut, though she can be a little lazy at times. She tends to be reserved and distant at first, but warms up to become caring and affectionate once she gets to know someone. She’s also known to be a bit stubborn and believes in superstitions.
Oliver (voiced by Atsushi Tamaru)
- Age: 15
- 4th year student at Adhvan Resilience Academy School of Science and Engineering in the Life Sciences Department.
- Member of the debate team
He’s a brilliant but often unpleasant person. Though consistently a top student and skilled debater, he frequently makes fun of others, leaving him with few friends. Sushiro often playfully teases him, but he responds with cold indifference.
Chloe (voiced by Asami Shimoda)
- Age: 14
- 3rd year student at Adhvan Resilience Academy School of Science and Engineering in the Life Sciences Department
She’s a kind-hearted person who had a happy, nature-filled upbringing and a deep love for animals. She’s even gotten into trouble at school before for standing up against animal testing. Though she’s incredibly intelligent with a near-perfect memory, she finds it hard to connect with people and tends to be reserved. She only truly lets her guard down and relaxes when she’s with close friends.
Marika (voiced by Aoi Nagatsuki)
- Age: 13
- 1st year student at Adhvan Resilience
- Member of the occult research club
The main character’s cousin is like a little sister to him. She’s full of energy and always cheers everyone up, even though she secretly worries about her asthma and staying healthy.
■ Systems
Sankhara Spacetime
The Sankhara Spacetime is a dangerous, alternate dimension representing the worst actions people are capable of. When students at the academy transform into GEMs, they generate these Spacetimes, which become obstacles for the main characters as they search for the truth.

Battle
The combat mixes fast-paced action with strategic thinking. You’ll need to work with your teammates and use powerful abilities to defeat tough enemies. Pay attention to how the battle changes, choose your skills wisely, and take control!

Genome Arms
Okay, so in this game, you’ve got these things called Genome Arms – basically, they’re your arms that can morph into different weapons! The cool part is, you can swap out skills to totally change how you fight. And get this – you can even switch between different Genome Arms during battles. It’s all about figuring out what weapons work best against each enemy, and teaming up with your buddies to really dominate. It adds a lot of strategy to the fights!

Wall Slide
Sliding along a wall lets you quickly travel across the field. Besides fast movement, you can also use wall slides to surprise enemies with attacks from above. These “raid attacks” give you an advantage in fights and help you win quickly.

Warning Signal
A light will flash just before an enemy attacks, giving you a chance to block with a well-timed Genome Arm switch. Successfully blocking prevents damage and lets you immediately launch a powerful counterattack. You can also counter by dodging attacks or by recovering and striking back after being launched. Learn to use all these different counter moves to handle any attack the enemy throws at you.
